This isn't the first time this rig has been killed, last time it was the CPU and mobo 😭

More than likely, your PSU did the frying, not the GPU. I’m guessing a cheap PSU. What’s the make and model of the PSU?

  2. yearningforpurpose

Multiple parts are killed, and you don’t think a common denominator is the problem?

DONT SKIMP OUT ON POWER SUPPLIES!!!! THEY DON’T COST MUCH TO GET A RELIABLE ONE! STOP RUINING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS BECAUSE YOU WANT TO SKIMP OUT ON ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF A COMPUTER!

  4. EndlessBattlee

Am I cooked, you ask? Yep, literally

  5. Asimiss

Idk,thats sounds way more like it was done by your faulty psu unit and not like your gpu destroyed your rig.

  6. flgtmtft

You need a cheaper PSU. One out of a e-junkyard would be perfect

  7. DoubtNecessary8961

the only thing that can cause this is PSU…

  8. Ok_Cheek_7279

    😳 ,
1st thing i learned in my career is not to use cheap/unbranded PSU.

2nd thing no matter how confident you are always physically remove the data drive while re-installing the OS.

For everyone commenting about the PSU, it’s a cooler master mwe 750v2, 80+ gold rated. The reason I’m saying that it was the GPU and not the PSU was because the 3070 needs 2 6+2 connectors and the 6650 only needs one, and when I replaced my PSU earlier in the year the person at the store mixed and matched all the cables (this was at a tech store btw), and I thought I separated them but I must have missed one.

  10. faverodefavero

The cables did it. You can’t use cables from one PSU with another, also, use single ended individual cables for each slot, never daisy chain.

  11. spicynoodsinmuhmouf

Psu is getting power clearly soooo

  12. THE PSU is probably the issue and you keep feeding it new parts like their a sacrifice

  13. JanuszBiznesu96

Yeeeah it’s basically impossible for a gpu to damage a power supply, it either was the other way around or the PSU had 0 over current protection, which isn’t likely even with a shit one.

So it’s probably a dodgy psu

  14. nullusx

Remember folks. Always use the included cables of the PSU or be really sure that the cables you are using have the same pinout and are 100% compatible.

When in doubt check the information online or probe pins with a multimeter if you know what you are doing.

Never mix and match cables with different PSUs, sometimes even within the same brand. For instance Corsair used to make their PSUs at Seasonic eventually they changed production to CWT and their pinout is now different from the old days.

  15. StopElectingWealthy

That’s not how a GPU works. Your PSU has probably been busted for a while.

  16. No-Upstairs-7001

A cheap PSU fried itself and the card ?

  17. So, how come you *know* that the GPU fried everything else on two different MOBOs?

Also, how tf do you actually believe that a legit 3070 fried your cheap ass PSU and not the other way around?

  18. Successful_Purple885

Change ur psu, it’s the psu’s fault not the gpu, if it’s a branded one and has warranty get compensation.

  19. sakaguti1999

With some basic logic, there must be something that still remains in your pc that is frying everything.

  20. tailslol

    bad or cheap psu

    or too low wattage

remove that thing before or does more victims.

never cheap out on those things.

i have a be quiet one (gold, 10y warranty)

    it was expensive but

11y later still alive and running.

  21. blud can afford nice gpu but forgot to invest on decent psu , and blame the gpu when something gone wrong. another classic take.

man idk what the logic for some guy behind these problem even some my own friend got pretty high end gpu and cheap psu. and when something gone wrong they just live with the problem instead replacing the psu. and they rather spend the money on some shitty ass gacha game then fixing their pc.

  22. Rasutoerikusa

OP mentioned in a comment that he uses PSU cables that didn’t come with the PSU, so that is 100% the issue. Not the GPU. You will keep frying parts regularly unless you switch to correct PSU cables, it isn’t the GPUs fault

  23. the_p0wner

You’re not cooked, you just have brain damage.

  24. HeriPiotr

MFs like this will call me dumb for recommending a good (and hence pricier) PSU when they get a computer with sketchy ass parts.. “GeT oFf tHat LTT sHiT”…

  25. naswinger

good deal to spend a couple hundred dollars on destroyed hardware in order to save a couple of dollars on a power supply…

  26. WorldPhysical7646

    Start from ground zero
Sell everything revise your hardware knowledge and then buy a new PC
Or just stick to consoles and pre builts if this is too much for you

  27. RealityGoneNuts2610k

rule of thumb: Always invest a very good PSU if you ever buy high end gpu.

  28. TheMirageYT

No it was a GPU cable that I only attach he’d because I got the 3070 yesterday, I used the right one with my 6650 thankfully

  29. TheLordLongshaft

The whole situation is stressing me out dude all cramped with loads of clutter and your glass panel just asking to fall off and be broken
