I’m a millennial and had also no idea. Excel 95 was my first experience. By that time, it already could do 99.999999999% of what you’re doing in Excel right now. We’re literally running bloatware for no apparent reason.
And then there was me with a Nokia 3310. Fuck I kinda miss High School now.
Fun fact, Excel can be used in tandem with outlook to do mail merging, which is used for email lists. If you were to fill that list in Excel with carrier email-to-sms addresses, you could do something loosely defined as sending texts from Excel.
People need to realize they were using Google sheets before they were released.
