I would take it some Pc center to test it because previous owner threw it out for a reason. But if it’s good, congratulations! That’s an S tier PSU with all the wattage you will ever need!

  2. RockTheif

I wouldn’t risk it on expensive hardware upfront, use a cheaper test set up. That thing looks brand new though.

  3. External-Document-88

Grab a PSU tester on Amazon…

  4. worldrenownedballdr

well… I would test it or take it to a pc center, are any of these still even in business at this point?) other than Best Buy there is sweet F all here, other than phone repair places..

of course all they are going to do (probably) is use one of the $15~ psu testers anyway (probably handy to have around .. while not especially thorough still handy to judge will this definitely blow my pc up.?? )

It is hard to imagine someone tossed that in the trash for zero reason however.. Ideally if it tests ok then try it on old cheap system before trying it with expensive gear.

What you are saying is a delivery driver has put this in someone’s bin, because they were unavailable and you have stolen the parcel.

  6. LostTimeXO

it’s in the trash for a reason. no one in their right mind would throw away a brand new psu if it was still working properly

  7. Big-Soft7432

Absolutely test before using it on a real system unless you want to fry your hardware. If it works, it’s an amazing find. It could easily be an extra PSU someone didn’t need and couldn’t find a new home for it. Or the previous owner was just an asshole and contributed to e-waste.

Not even used sellers have the courtesy to clean it before selling, but some guy cleaned it thoroughly for trash can. The one thing you may never get on reddit is the truth.

you didn’t find that in the trash, you filthy karma farmer.

just in case I’m wrong, if you actually found that in the trash it was probably there for a reason…

  10. duhgrateone

maybe some one porch poached it and tossed it when they found it was something useless to them

  11. Zestyclose_Fudge_724

it could be fine just check all the voltages first

  12. Ambitious_Platypus99

Don’t let the intrusive thoughts win and hook it up before the tester arrives. I probably would because I hate waiting but you definitely shouldn’t lol good luck, hope it’s a winner!

  13. It could have been thrown out by a porch pirate who didnt think they could use it and didnt wanna resell it.

So you were just randomly digging through other peoples trash?

  15. tileman1440

Thats the cleanest box in the world i have seen in the trash. not a dent, scuff or crumpled corner…

  16. MEGA_GOAT98

you cuold buy a psu tester and find out i wuoldnt plug it into anything you have tho

  17. metalmayne

When these things come brand new, there’s a tamper sticker on the power outlet itself, so this thing was most certainly powered on I think.

  18. Endle55torture

Hook up a psu tester and test all the ports.

  19. CryptographerLost271

Got one these bad bois coming to replace my EVGA N1 (tier list wasn’t out yet), but I’d have it tested before actually installing

  20. CyberbrainGaming

Most important component in your computer, I wouldn’t risk. But would likely be ok for other projects, benching, etc.

  21. alezcoed

Do people in first world country really found expensive computer parts in their trash?

  22. Lookingformydad666

Stop lying..I know you didn’t find that in the trash bahahaha

  23. BuffyScout

Heheh I have RMAd 2 of this exact model of psu one failed out right would not turn on anymore. The other had worst coil whine ever. Then I complained about my PSU failing 2 times and them sending me a RMA unit, not a new one and I got a brand new 3rd unit that I still use. This all happend in the first 30 days of ownership so mixed reviews from me 😆 have had current one year+

Also these have 10 year warranty I think 🤔
Not buying Corsair in the future tho prolly seasonic or something.

  24. PeetTreedish

Get a $5 adapter board off ebay. It will let you turn it on/off. So the outputs can be tested. Unless you got a spare PC to throw it in an risk it.

  25. Agent-Meta

Yeah like everyone said found a PC center near you or by a PSU tester and test it yourself either or there’s a reason why stuff like that is in the garbage can.

  26. Tiny_Requirement4241

Sell it on letgo or something similar for extra cash if you cant get a psu tester

  27. Jamizon1

I can feel the heat coming off that thing from here… lol

  28. Darnakulus

That employee that stashed that out in the trash out back is going to be pissed off when he finds out it’s not there

  29. Confident-Goal4685

You found a clean, undamaged box in the trash, containing an unused PSU?

  30. Ancient-Sweet9863

Same psu I rock, actually I’ve had the RM750,850,1000X. Their fantastic power supplies and I’ve never heard the fan at all or any coil whine. All my whine comes from the graphics card

  31. SADPLAYA

I would test it before connecting it to anything I wanted to keep

  32. Curtofthehorde

Got mine brand new and still runs great, maybe 11 or 12 years old now?

  33. Difficult-Drama7996

Anyone, like us, would not pass it up, and definitely test it out. 1000w psu can be pricey.

  34. MagicOrpheus310

    Oof… That’s a tough one…

If it works, yeah, use it….

But… If it turns out it doesn’t work, you’ll risk sacrificing your PC to find out…

    Hmmm….

Maybe slap together a basic PC from old spare parts and test it on that first

  35. sirfannypack

If it doesn’t end up working, take it to your local Ewaste facility.

  36. MildLoser

some boyfriend got a psu and their girlfriend was pissed and threw it away maybe.

  37. Djinn2522

Last time I bought a new PSU, I put the old one in the new PSU box before throwing it in the trash; just to save space in the pail.
