It is hard to imagine someone tossed that in the trash for zero reason however.. Ideally if it tests ok then try it on old cheap system before trying it with expensive gear.

Absolutely test before using it on a real system unless you want to fry your hardware. If it works, it’s an amazing find. It could easily be an extra PSU someone didn’t need and couldn’t find a new home for it. Or the previous owner was just an asshole and contributed to e-waste.

Heheh I have RMAd 2 of this exact model of psu one failed out right would not turn on anymore. The other had worst coil whine ever. Then I complained about my PSU failing 2 times and them sending me a RMA unit, not a new one and I got a brand new 3rd unit that I still use. This all happend in the first 30 days of ownership so mixed reviews from me 😆 have had current one year+
Also these have 10 year warranty I think 🤔
Not buying Corsair in the future tho prolly seasonic or something.

Get a $5 adapter board off ebay. It will let you turn it on/off. So the outputs can be tested. Unless you got a spare PC to throw it in an risk it.

Same psu I rock, actually I’ve had the RM750,850,1000X. Their fantastic power supplies and I’ve never heard the fan at all or any coil whine. All my whine comes from the graphics card
