Hey everyone!

We’ve been developing our card game, Sunyata, on nights and weekends for a while now. Finally got to a point where we can show off some gameplay.

Our goal is to have mechanics match flavor (like dragons shooting fireballs, zombies using dead creatures as summoning cost, and ninjas using stealth and traps).

We are a two person team and it’s been so rewarding to see this come together. Feedback and questions are most welcome!

Watched the trailer, checked out the steam page. My take: enormous achievement for two-person team, but fails to dispel the “move numbers around” gameplay that inherently all CCG games need to avoid to stand out from the rest. What I mean by that is: squint, stare at the screen, and there is nothing that makes this stand out from any other CCGs be it visually, audio-wise, or mechanics. This is, admittedly, extremely hard to achieve when even Hearthstone is reusing old mechanics at this point (everything has been done syndrome), but still, games like “The Bazaar” at least somewhat break out of the mold of “I can see the inspiration from a distance”. I have to say after playing many, many games like this, I just can’t see anything that would make me want to pick this one up, even the “unique mana system”. I think it’s also probably a little bit of personal burnout on deckbuilding games after what, 8 years of deckbuilding games, so, take everything I said with a grain of salt. For someone new to the genre they might absolutely get sucked in to something like this. Still impressed two people were able to get this to come together, just not super hyped based on what I’m seeing.

It looks cool but I feel it needs a USP to stand out from the crowd.

This looks cool, love the art style. Will you ever look at doing a mobile port?

If you don’t mind me asking, how have you been building this?

I like what is shown so far. Definitely need more collectible card games that are not roguelikes.

Noticed it is planned to be F2P which always leaves me skeptical especially with card games.

What is the monetization model that is planned for the long term, and is this going to be a live service that will lose support (or become unplayable) after you two move on to other ventures?

Awesome job, I know how much time such a project can suck in and that’s really hard to stick to it once the fun first phases were over and all the actual work of bugfixing, balancing, etc begins. But there are two points I would like to bring up.

First, rhe whole presentation and gameplay honestly just looks like Hearthstone. It will put people off because they sign it off instantly as a clone of what they already have. I think the whole idea of these strange factions like trees and ninjas should stand out all the time in visual language, to make it more unique, whatever this means. Of course a board is a board, but even all the animations, where the hero/base is placed, how HP and attack is shown, etc is just sooooo Hearthstone.

Also I really see how much work has gone into the artwork. But if you look on the board it looks a bit messy with how everything is scaled. It’s like 60% of the screen is filled by empty part of the board whole the most important part, the cards, is really small. Maybe you can sort stuff, so the space is used much more effienciently and it would make the cards easier to read

Fantastic start can’t wait to try it! Love the artwork! Can I get merch?

Maybe some of the characters can escape from their cards at the end of play and fill the screen?
