    The first shutdown is coming,

    October 6, NHL 21.

On October 7, Need for Speed Rivals.

    October 20, Madden NFL 22.

    October 30, FIFA 23.

In the case of all these games, this will impact all platforms, which means PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo users will all be impacted. This includes last-gen machines like Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One, as well as current-gen machines, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2.

EA does not disclose its reasons for any of the shutdowns.

  2. FIFA 23 being shut down sounds wild to me. I haven’t followed this series in recent years, but most old Call of Duty games are still perfectly playable in multiplayer.

  3. Too bad for need for speed rivals, but the sports games actually make sense.

NHL 21, Need For Speed Rivals, Madden NFL 22, FIFA 23.

    Saved you a click.

Do these games have an offline mode or is this more fodder for r/StopKillingGames ?

  6. I will never understand people spending huge money on a game they will probably play for a year or so.

Be happy it’s EA and not Ubisoft so you dont have to destroy your physical copies of the games!

“EA Shutting Down…” – YES!!!!!!!! FINALLY, EA DEFEATED!
    “…Four Games Forever” – Oh… 🙁 Got excited for a second there

At least all of those games can be played offline, so if you already own then and are mostly into the single player content, this might be a minor loss. Can’t say the same about other titles like Need for Speed 2015 or Anthen though, this is why the stop killing games initiative is so important.

I’m surprised FIFA 23 was still up when EA didn’t want to renew the FIFA license due to FIFA wanting a billion every four years

  11. Epicporkchop79-7

Its okay, I haven’t given ea a penny since simcity 2013.

  12. They really shutting down games that are two years old?

    Insane.

  13. I usually wait 4 years to buy a new sports game, but had no intention of buying the new madden and they shut down 22. Man.

  14. NoKingsInAmerica

Good. They need the server rack space to make room for BF6 servers.

  15. 06CommissaryKing

The writing is on the wall for that free to play Skate. reboot. Might make it two years.

  16. Juan-Claudio

Such a dramatic headline.. they’re shutting down the servers for four games which are all still playable offline.

Now let’s see all the people pretend to care.

  18. HUSK3RGAM3R

Thank god it’s not Titanfall. Even if they tried to shut it down, people would probably just go and use the Northstar client exclusively.

can we promote stop killing games again? EU push is over, but UK push is new.

  20. likwitsnake

I never played Four Games Forever is it any good?

  21. ChronaMewX

Good reason not to support this company. I don’t buy any games from them

  22. notapandah

really hoping they don’t shut down the battlefronts anytime soon. I still play them daily :/

  23. Anyone wanna help me get a couple trophies for NFS: Rivals before they shut it down?

  24. Damascus52311

Rivals was a great game but I won’t play it again with a EA login

  25. Dramoriga

Glad I don’t play EA games anymore. Ubisoft either unless they release Other splinter cell lol

  26. TiredReader87

Rivals was the best NFS in recent memory. I really enjoyed it. Don’t care about the online.

  27. DillusionX

I’m one of the 4 people that still somewhat regularly plays Madden 22, the online service has been nonexistent since Madden 23 released, so as long as they let me run it offline like I always do anyways this really isn’t a big deal. I wouldn’t recommend buying Madden 22 these days for obvious reasons but it’s quite ironic that game runs better on PC and is more enjoyable to play with a couple mods added than the latest Madden 24/25 versions

  28. Im so used to massive publishers and parent companies shutting down their subsidiaries that I thought Four Games Forever was a developer that I’d never heard of.
