If I buy a brand new, recently released full priced game, I will play it to the fullest. And usually several playthroughs.
But…
If I get a game for free, like from Epic store and Amazon Gaming, or I buy some old title for a couple of euros, it will most likely sit on the shelf years before I finish it, or even try it.
BasicallyImAlive
You can upgrade your pc with the amount of the unfinished games that you guys bought. I was like that too, but now I’m not. Aware of your financial irresponsibility. I only bought a game after I finished the game that I bought last time.

As a ps owner I absolutely relate

This is why I sail the seas and buy a game after I decide it’s worth my limited hard earned money.

I bought Stardew valley and terraria 3 years ago, I STILL haven’t touched them.
I keep telling myself one day.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Soon all these companies will make us own nothing but pay a subscription to play a catalogue. So practically a Netflix but for games. Oh wait…
NewCintooo
Most games I own do not have a defined ending so I guess it’s true? But also inevitable

Game I’ve had the longest that remains unfinished… Gemstone Warrior. A c64 game.
I have a joy2key config for it, it’s in my launchbox… and once in a while i get the silly notion that I am going to play and complete it. Herp the derp…
Ultima 6… but fuck ultima 6. A bug in the first version I bought day of release killed my save twice… Journaled it as if I was the character… i was really into ultima… hell… it changed the way I think… but when the second save died I was crushed and walked away.
Fur Fighters… Actually have been playing this this year.
Hit and Run… a bug in the pirated version kept me from completing it… fixed and I revist here and there…
but so so many others…

Trying to get the pattner to finish grounded 1. And he keeps guilting me to buy and start number 2.
He has a mountain of unfinished games. i honestly hate doing that.
SnowChickenFlake
Unfinished games are not a problem; those haven’t captivated me, and I Don’t have *any* desire to play games against my will
The real problem are the unstarted games. Games which I bought, but sit in my library without being turned on *even once*
Mistymoozle737
Ive just started collecting a backlog, only 3 so far… so far

not true… there should be 1000 unfinished game shiggys (shiggies?) 😂

Wait… games have endings?

Um. Is what true? What is the picture implying? That you keep your EA and release games separated?

It’s this but “unplayed game.”
Priz_od
Unfinished? How about bought, installed and never(not even once) launched. I’ve got plenty of those.

I’ll do my best to play this new game I just bought for hundreds and hundreds of hours to help myself feel better about the people we left behind

I bought death stranding 2 but I can’t bring myself to play it. I thought i would like it since i kinda liked the first one but i dont.

Multiply the unfinished games by like 16. That’s half of my library.
I’m actually confused why I even bought the Crash Trilogy, I hate platformers.
EDIT: Oh, now I remember, it was $4.
i_am_13th_panic
I’ve probably finished about 30% of the 300 games in my steam library. lol this is so true!

Fell for the unfinished, but wait we will give free skins pre-order, deal. When you coulda had a completed game.

It’s pretty normal behavior we all love collecting things. Steam is making money from us collecting digital games. It’s genius and this behavior is well known like when we collected books, movies, cards etc. Probably something we evolve to survive like squirrels collecting food for winter.
NerdyMcNerdersen
This is probably why I’ve been gravitating more towards games that don’t really have endings. Sim racing, pinball, fighting games. I don’t have to “finish” them to feel satisfied and don’t feel bad for moving on. Still, I really need to finish a story again eventually 😪
Chrisjg9
Lately I’ve been trying to discipline myself and play all my unplayed games before I buy another. It’s going well
UltraX76
My parents never pay for games and I’m 16 so still not independent plus I have no money. I’ve been pirating my whole life, and since I have to store every game I get, I don’t get many games.
Especially now that I have downloaded ARK lol, I have basically no storage on my 1tb laptop. Amazing game btw would def recommend also the soundtrack is too good
Brohtworst
If a game you purchased isn’t clicking with you, it’ll be miserable to finish. There’s nothing saying you have to finish every game you start.

It took me a good 7 years to stop doing this. My backlog got so full and I promised myself to play every game on it before buying more unless Its a new release I’m excited for, which is really rare.
