Nintendo keep remastering their games every chance they get so if you don't own a WiiU then most likely you will still be able to play them on the Switch.
We got multiple remasters for TLoU but it is weird that even though GoW was successful they didn't bother porting the trilogy to PC so that the new comers could actually enjoy the original games.
Tons of potential such as Dragon's Crown, Fat Princess, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper…etc

Dragons Crown is VanillaWare’s call. They are pretty known for being old school in terms of Japanese views on PC Gaming hence why their newest game Unicorn Overlord never came to PC
Both games are a gem.
I think about fat princess very often
Sad there’s no similar game
I love fat princess so much 😭 there’s a spiritual successor (Fat Goblins) that is looking pretty cool!
I think some of it is there worried the new set of gamers wouldn’t like the games. New gen or younger gamers seem to more interested in things like fortnite,Minecraft,Roblox. These big hub online games. Some of it maybe licensing stuff. Imo it would be nice to see them re make some of the oldies for nostalgia though.
Yeah, Playstation leadership is honestly is very dumb sometimes. Playstation doesn’t even need to go third party to increase their profits, they could just port their old games to PC and Switch, while keeping the new ones as playstation exclusives for a decade; that way they would attract people to their playstation ecosystem while making tons of cash from decades-old games.
With that job listing that cropped up the other week I’m waiting for Sony Imagesoft games to come out of the vault. They weren’t all winners, but they were all mostly interesting
Sony kinda wish fat princess was errased from history (They even cut her from new Astrobot, lol). Maybe there’s a chance that Bandai can bought license, like they did with Freedom Wars, Patapon and that Golf series
I’d definitely be happy to experience the old games , just remaster and port them to modern devices so the new generation gamers like me can experience it
Sony have given nothing but a middle finger to us Killzone fans.
I’d buy them in a heartbeat if they came to PC.
Vanillaware is violently against their games ever being on pc or doing pc ports.
I would ki- I mean, hug someone dearly, for a Dragon’s Crown port
Fat Princess was great
Gonna be honest OP, if you gave something like Jak 2 to someone who is unfamiliar with it then it’ll seem hopelessly antiquidated.
And I loved it as a kid, but “let’s give him a GUN, isn’t that HARDCORE” will fall absolutely flat. Oddly, the simplicity of Jak 1 would probably have more play.
Dragon’s Crown isnt a first or second party Sony title.
That being said, I’d love to see them remaster the Champions of Norrath series for PC, or maybe even a remastered Untold Legends Trilogy pack. I think they both would fit well on the PC space as dungeon crawlers.
Yeah WTF I want the old FAT princess back !!!! Game was the best
Fat Princess was peak, played the demo non-stop.
money probably, they think it wouldn’t sell enough
They are too busy looking for the next live service big hit.
Sony must be looking at how much would it sell to the effort it would take to develop the remaster/ remake the older games.
Also as Monthly Active Users and subscription has become a important metric for shareholders to show how well sony is doing recently, sony would prefer ps users to subscribe to ps plus premium to access older games rather than releasing it ala carte ,thereby increasing ps plus subscription users
In the recent financial report they have said number of premium ps users have been increasing compared to ps extra users
A PC port would make the point and click features on the background in Dragon’s Crown much easier to use…
Dragons Crown was remastered for PS4. What do you mean they should bring them back?
Licensing issues and some of these franchises are not deemed profitable enough, that’s why we never saw *Sly Cooper* again.
still waiting for an Ico/SotC PC port
Sony believes there’s more money in reboots/remakes than very-late ports.
I don’t agree with it but remember that Jim Ryan was the person saying “why would you play this *PS2 Gran Turismo game* over the new PS4 one?”.
I would kill a man for Fat Princess. She was gone before her time….
I can understand the confusion on your part seeing as you think Dragon’s Crown is a Sony game. Clearly you don’t have a ton of knowledge about the industry or why things are they way they are.
The answer is that it’s complicated. Here is a simple list of some problems that might crop up from game to game: source code could be gone/not fully intact which makes porting the project more time consuming/expensive, licensing issues, whatever engine the game was made in might make porting it off its original hardware annoying.
And here is a big one: people run off their nostalgia instead of looking at statistical data. You say Sly Cooper has a ton of potential for example. Yet its original trilogy was on literally the best selling console of all time and those 3 games combined only sold about 2 million copies. I like Sly Cooper, you like Sly Cooper. But it was never a big series. Is taking the time to port the games (which can be easily emulated on PC anyway which I guarantee you every redditor would smugly say “I’m just gonna emulate it” if Sony put the HD collection on PC for like $30 or $40) to a PC actually going to be worth the money it costs to make native ports for those games? I really doubt it personally.
Also despite what the internet will tell you, exclusivity matters. Sony just re-released emulated ports of Sly on PS4/5 a while back, if you want to play it go buy one of those consoles. Same with Jax and Daxter. Sony doesn’t want to give you all these old games on PC, they’d rather you come into their ecosystem and buy them there which is why they’re picky about the games they release on PC and when they release them.
The original God of War was one of the first two games my parents got me for my PS2. I’d love to replay it on PC.
I don’t think Sony made or owns Dragon’s Crown.
I’d love to get officially the OG Ratchet and Clank trilogy, as well as Jak and Daxter trilogy and Sly Cooper. Is it too much to ask for?
Remasters and/or remakes are nice, or sometimes necessary, but sometimes I wish they would just make older games accessible on newer devices.
I’m most surprised they haven’t even ported some of the more recent games. The Demon’s Soul remake for example – Soulslike games are in vogue and it’s a really good one. They would probably sell a few million porting it to PC.
Omg i was playing dragon’s crown just the other day with my cousins locally and they loved it. Such an awesome game.
Also Gravity Rush! (and Uncharted 1, 2 and 3)
because why let people buy it once when you charge $120/mo for the privilege
Because remasters aren’t free to make, people already complain about them when they are done for some of the biggest games of all time and they probably would not sell enough to recoup the cost.
New games are better and people dont care about old games as much as you think, their era is gone just download a rom from torrents and play if you want to
They don’t want you to play old games, they want you to play their new live service games.
One part of the problem is things like dragon crown and fat princess from my thinking is more “shovel ware” for Sony eyes as even back with fat princess it seems like it was a small cult hit for the however many people played it.
And I don’t think sony would have actionable data to do anything with Jak, sly or the others as even with the trilogy HD ports to ps3, gaming has come a long way since then especially with a lot more people now playing games, to them 50millon copies of the last of us looks better than 5 million sly sales even if it meant there was only 5 million gamers back then to buy sly. Like it still annoys me sony ported only uncharted 4 and its dlc instead of all 5 games (of course minus the vita one which is still an amazing game everyone should play)
Don’t get me wrong I’d always love ports of older games to modern store, maybe with a few bug fixes if necessary, at the end of the day it’s about money and no company will want to pay a group of people to port a game for 10 sales
Because its COSTS a LOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT of money to do this and there is no guarantee that they will make the money back. Even Nintendo loses massively when they do it. Thats why THEY dont do it very often either.
Because the current hardware is too advanced and it had to be rewritten from “scratch”. They don’t want an emulator to be backloaded put onto the system.
Look at the recent Crash Bandicoot release. A sign it was rewrote it, they flubbed the jumping.
Some of these games would have to be re-built from the ground up, as they used programming tricks to get what they did out of the hardware they used, especially anything from the PS2 and earlier.
Its all about the money, if they think the profit to effort ratio is not justified they wont.
Jak and Daxter trilogy have an awesome full featured unofficial port that I highly recommend. Can’t recall the name of it but you can easily find it online.
Dragons crown is on ps4 and plays on ps5
I would kill for a PC or switch release of the Jak and Daxter games. I didn’t have a PS2 growing up, so I only played them at a my friend’s house. Was able to finish the first game, but never was able to get far in the second since that friend got really busy with his extracurricular and I started seeing less of him.
Most likely because they don’t have the source code for it anymore. Game devs are notorious for not preserving their own games.
Doubt they’ll remake anything requiring servers, but there is a PS4 version of Dragon’s Crown. might be more an Atlus thing.
Also the reason there were so many TLoU remakes is likely Jim Ryan who was more abut keeping the job rather than having any talent for it the job. As all the TLoU remakes exemplify.
SONY
REMASTER EINHÄNDER, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!
