The real use case of Macbook

I had both a PC and a Mac for a long time, specifically for music production and DJing. Mac’s are the best when it comes to certain productivity tasks.

  2. MartenRicks

Honestly I am a pc guy at home. But there is no real alternative for a MacBook when in comes to laptops for me. Just outperforms every windows laptop I ever had in every matter. And I actually know many people that work on theirs and really need it.

  3. This is a pretty shit take and only demonstrates how uninformed you are. Mac laptops are fantastic and quite affordable compared to their Windows counterparts. Killer battery life, amazing screens, excellent build quality etc. Oh, and when you close the lid the go to sleep like the should. It’s a dice roll with Windows laptops.

  4. ivanvx117

I used to have a MacBook. Battery life was awesome, the OS is very stable but with very stagnant UI since OS X Lion started to make it work like an iPad, however the machine is simply reliable. I still prefer PC as it can do pretty much everything.

  5. I would personally get a mac, if it was compatible with my software.

I’m sorry but in certain ways they are just way ahead. I have yet to see a windows laptop that is in the same league as a MacBook for battery life and standby.

  6. Show me a windows laptop that can match the commination of light weight, reasonably powerful, and long battery life that the MacBook Air can provide.

Windows laptops are usually at best chose 2 of those 3 and sacrifice the 3rd.

  7. Zealousideal_Side987

    It’s not 2015 . It’s 2025 . We showoff cars nowadays

  8. Everyone who ever did music production knows that there are some areas where mac is just unbeatable.

Saying this as a die hard apple hater who finally made the switch after 15 years of being bullied by windows.

I can my VMs pretty nicely on my M4 macbook when I wish to do some on the go homelabing. Plus it’s amazing display/speakers make it my go to device when wanting to watch a movie/tv show while cooking. I’m one of those IT guys who has a home lab but will only carry a modern day Macbook.

  10. Agitated-Practice218

Yeah, this is an outdated meme. You can get a brand new M4 air these days for $849,

And at that price point it’s a hard to beat workhorse.

  11. a_scientific_force

You’re either 15 years old or an adult without a job.

  12. beanos4lyf

They have exceptional CPU performance and battery life, bear in mind this is coming from someone who despises apple.

  13. windows desktop user and my macbook pro has been indispensable for like 7 years now

  14. amped-row

MacBooks are the best laptops on the market by a long shot. Just for the fact that sleep mode doesn’t drain any battery

  15. Specialist-Box-9711

My Mac goes 20+ hours between charges for web browsing. I haven’t found a Windows PC that can go that. Closest are the Windows PCs with Snapdragon SoC’s but it’s still a far cry. For raw compute, yeah my Mac is trash but it’s great for playing indie games on the plane or editing my insta360 footage on the go.

  16. thecoppermusicdude

Terrible take, great reminder that both loving or hating anything blindly are sheep-behaviour

  17. Lol what the hell is this.

MB are pretty much unmatched for typical computer work, battery life, and efficiency.

  18. Very underrated feature is how you can easily Copy and Paste directly from iPhone to Mac/Macbook.

The integration from phone to Mac is so seamless.

Windows Phone Link on my gaming setup sucks. Transferring files, copying things back and forth etc is much clunkier.

A cheap MacBook Air can be found for like $699 (M3), and it outperforms and has better battery life compared to cheap HP/Asus/Acer/Dell etc.

  19. Clear_Efficiency5765

this meme is outdated for at least 10 years

  20. Mate, there ain’t nothing better or more reliable when it comes to Macbooks for development! Been using it for 5 years and still going strong without any issues…

  21. The higher spec machines yea maybe. Base model devices such as the MacBook air and Mac Mini are really good. The laptops are kinda unbeatable ATM. An equivalent windows laptop sacrifices either weight, price, performance or battery life.

  22. SoldierOfOrange

I have a beefy pc for gaming, but any work I do – whether professionally or just creative work as a hobby – I do on a Mac. It’s just a better experience.

  23. Musicians and artists would highly disagree (also they can’t really be called expensive anymore compared to equivalent Windows laptops).

  24. LaggyGoogle

I don’t really understand this. You can make your Mac run windows if you want, and most laptops are extremely shitty. Apple is one of the few companies that makes laptops that actually last the whole day without charging.

  25. FamousEvening09

Can we please leave this “Playstation vs Xbox” “Android vs iOS” coded karma bait disguised as a meme behind please. Good engineering is good engineering and Apple silicon is no exception to that. Yes their products are expensive. Yes their storage tiers/pricing ladder and lack of user replaceable storage is borderline evil. Still a damn good laptop though and I have yet to find a Windows equivalent that performs as good away from an outlet as Apple silicon Macbooks.

Just switched to a Macbook Air for work after 30 years on Windows laptops. I am generally anti-Apple and prefer Windows/Linux for computers and Android for phones.

This thing absolutely destroys my previous high-end Surface. The hardware is superb. Battery life is actually ridiculous. It’s a pleasure to use and to type on. It also plays the types of Steam games you’d want to play on a thin, lightweight laptop absolutely fine (Civilization, for example).

My only real complaint so far is the way MacOS handles the desktop and windows is… stupid. Particularly for productivity. Flicking between open programs is cumbersome and annoying, as is arranging multiple windows on screen.

But for a daily driver it’s an absolutely excellent device.

  27. Started my PhD with a MacBook Air that I had gotten a few years before, quickly realized it wasn’t going to cut it power-wise for doing coding for computational biology. Made the upgrade to a MacBook Pro…like, a first-gen M1 or whatever, if that…may have still been on Intel at the time. It chewed up anything I put to it, no problems, for six years, and is still going strong for random use.

Lab mate that started same time as me? Went through two PC laptops, and had an awful time trying to dual-boot Linux for some courses that required us to do CLI stuff.

I’ll stick with my MacBook. It just works, and works damn well.

  28. TheFragturedNerd

I have not liked apple for the longest time, but this is such a dated take!

Their M series laptops are geniuenly amazing machines, especially for productivity such as marketing departments.

  29. Un4giv3n-madmonk

I dont game on a laptop, my usecase for my personal laptop is entirely web browsing/webapps/access to tools that I self host while I’m out and about, for my usecase, my mac-book eclipses any windows offering available on battery life, OS reliability and over all functionality.

There’s alot I hate about Apple and their anti-consumer behavior but the reality is the macbook is a fantastic product that outside of setting up a likely more expensive laptop with linux (more effort) just can’t be matched by any off the shelf competitor.

  30. I have a Mac laptop and a PC for home use. The Mac blows any every windows laptop I’ve ever owned. And for its price, comparable windows laptops don’t even compare to what the Mac offers.

  31. JeffZoR1337

Which sliver is the one where my laptop actually still has battery when I go to use it lol

  32. SilverLightning926

MacOS being Unix-like helps a lot in Software dev and more, also ngl the hardware itself is actually pretty good quality (just hope you don’t have to repair anything)

  33. “Showing your friends that you’re rich”

    What is this? 2016?

An M1 Macbook is like less than 500 bucks my guy. It even still outperforms most Windows laptop out there.

Macbooks nowadays are total bang for your bucks for the amount of performance and the efficiency that you got from it.

  34. Quiet_Try5111

meh, i love my windows gaming desktop but I will still take macbook over any windows laptop anyday.

  35. PsychologicalGlass47

    Macbooks? Rich?

I mean, they’re expensive laptops but it’s nowhere near as much of a brag as a flagship Alienware.

  36. vaikunth1991

Ngl other for laptops I just prefer macbook , I use pc for gaming.

In mac the battery life , no bloat os , the tough build , reliable sleep mode , lag free performance, touch pad quality etc as a complete package beats windows laptops
