I had the same green one with Donkey Kong ❤️❤️❤️

  2. I think I still have my green GBC someplace. No internet and no USB/power cords. When I needed more play time, it was so easy to pop in some new batteries. Might need to dig it out of storage. 🙂

I remember those days with the Game Boy being the only console available, despite actually having started to play Game Boy (and video games in general) in 2017 or so.

All the time I spent on my dsi and 3Ds throughout middle school and highschool on my off time after all my homework was done

That’s why I still keep a PSP. Even though it’s WiFi capable it has no updates, no notifications, no ads and no trophy popups. Just pure game playing.

One of the best games on the gameboy color and pocket!

All we needed was some light and batteries.

My bathroom has a drawer for all my game boy stuff

Truly the golden era — pop in the UMD, power up, and you’re in. No patches, no updates, just pure gaming.

I remember using the reading light attachment so I could play Pokemon when it was getting dark 😀

Yep it’s what started my life long love of Tetris and gaming

Awesome game! Hint hint, when you’re at the file load screen, press and hold Left or Right, then hit A, A, B, B or B, B, A, A, both of which will give you a huge amount of lives and Banana Coins (great for saving!). Check out the first and third Land games as well if you can; DKL1 is a new adventure entirely different from Donkey Kong Country, unlike DKL2 and 3, each of which borrow heavily Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 respectively. Though DKL1 can be a recipe for serious eye strain on the [original DMG green screen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCOERv4l40E&t=30), it’s way more playable on the GBC’s display. Have fun!

  13. Man one could get a few hours on a 12 pack of batteries

    no updates

    no internet

    no dlc

    no downloading

no random crashing (unless there’s an actual physical issue)

no start menu, just insert and play

    no lengthy setup

Lol batteries dead in 3 hrs tho , less if you had rechargeable ones .. I had the game boy advance so I could play all the Castlevania Metroid and Zelda spin offs it always died mid way through a boss fights or when I was about 3 hrs into a 8 hr drive (I was in a band we toured most of Northern Europe)

I found my copy a few weeks ago and popped it into my purple gbc, and found my 100% file that kid me managed to get on his own. Great game, shockingly good translation of the snes game’s gameplay to Gameboy.

  19. “old good new bad give thumbs up plz”.

Your attitude is literally parodied in this game with Cranky Kong.

And yet somehow we still managed to spend hours staring at a tiny screen with no backlight and barely any batteries. Simpler times, stronger thumbs.

Most Nintendo games are still no internet required. Their games aren’t very buggy and don’t need many patches.

The screen is so goddamn small tho… Between recent handhelds and smartphones we’ve been spoiled with larger screens. I just can’t deal with that tiny little screen anymore.
