I always thought it was weird that my PC only had 8GB of RAM despite being fairly high-end. I guess it got unseated during transit or something. I've been in a state of moderate despair for the past 20 minutes.
Yes I know my PC is insanely dusty, I only ever owned laptops before getting this computer and didn't know you needed to clean the insides until a few days ago. I did a visual inspection of my PC to figure out what spots I should clean first and found this guy hanging out in the corner of the case that the lights in my room don't quite hit.
I've passed up incredible sales because my PC didn't have enough RAM to run the games. I nearly bought another set of RAM for 50 dollars a month ago. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

why didnt u notice that, its quite visible
Somebody didn’t clean his pc for 2 and a half years
Deserved
This post is confusing, how did you not know you were missing ram? Did you not notice some gbs of ram was missing when you booted it up? If I purchased a pc and was missing half my ram I’d be pissed and would be calling up the seller immediately.
Upgrades!
No, no, that’s RIM, Random Inaccessible Memory.

Do some people not care about money? If i paid for 16 gigs of RAM and only had 8 i would ask where the fuck my other RAM stick was i didnt spend money on something to not get what i paid for.
After receiving the pre build you didn’t check if everything was fine before set up?
Also laptops should be cleaned too, dust goes everywhere.
And where were you for the past two and half years?
Why would you come to Reddit to admit this to everyone?
The craziest thing is you actually didn’t need to post this and out yourself like that?
This is like wearing my coat from last winter and finding a $20 bill in the pocket.
Frame it this way: You got an 8gb stick of RAM reward for dusting out your PC. If you haven’t already, now you get to learn how to install it.
You’re trying to figure things out, and you’re figurin’ em out one by one. Very cool.
“Free” upgrade! Plus you probably saved money in the long run by not purchasing games to add to a pile of shame.
Dust your PC, then plug in your 2nd stick of RAM in the appropriate slot. Live and learn.
My mother needed more hard drive space at work, only 500GB SSD. Since the PC was 5 year old, they upgraded her instead. (For an accountant, her old 10th Gen Intel Core PC was already overkill)
She could keep her old PC for $50, so she did.
I set it up for my father, it’s now his personal PC. But upon setting it up I discovered there was a 2TB HDD installed. It was just unallocated space.
Her IT department is not the best.
The lesson learned here is to assess the situation before you buy your upgrade
You’re triggering so many people right now 😂. Congratulations on the find.
No need to despair, this is just a funny/odd thing that always seems to happen in life. I’m glad you found it it’s pretty neat really! Maybe you can return the new set you bought or just throw them all in if you have 4 slots, don’t worry too much about mixing memory. At any rate it never hurts to have some spare parts to troubleshoot or build with in the future.
what do you want from the chat? do you want us to roast you something…. the whole thing doesn’t make sense to me atleast…..
Laptops are no excuse. They need cleaned too.
Did check for loose connections after shipping and before running it? L
Bruh
2 and half years and you didn´t even bothered to open your case for cleaning or check if the ram sticks are well seated? kinda deserved tbf.
What game did you pass up that needs more than 8gb of RAM? I have 32GB and I know many recommend more but I dont recall any games that would be unable to run with 8. (or am I misunderstanding and you didn’t have 8 but was supposed to)
Open your case and look around, maybe there’s a new CPU in there too 🤷🏽♂️
how am I seeing the ram stick through wood, what am I looking at ?
