These types of cases are my dream cases. Do any companies make stuff like this still?

  1. I’m interested to know this as well. I’m guessing not though. You’d have to commission a custom themed case.

The green translucent one at the end, I’d buy that. What’s the thing on the top though I wonder

  3. ChChChillian

I don’t know, but you should be aware that two of those cases are modded and didn’t look like that brand new, and the last one looks like it might have been entirely homemade.

  4. PooForThePooGod

Number 3 definitely looks like a custom build that someone cut holes into, added vinyl wrap/paint and then some grates. Definitely doable.

  5. KerbodynamicX

The old ones still should support ATX motherboards right?

I think MSI and thermaltek does some “over the top” stuff by current standards. Some of the old but still popular Cooler Master cases have a DVD drive 💀 if you are into that sort of thing. Otherwise it doesn’t make any sense as a manufacturer since there isn’t high enough demand. That may attract folks who has been into PC building for a long time. But most PC buyers are casuals who seek modern aesthetic

  7. Man when I started getting into PC building in the late 90s my favourite part was picking out a case like that. I had a person PC and a couple servers at home that were so florescent and annoying. I LOVED them.

Piggy backing this to ask why isn’t there more internal hardware in at least one more option of the grey scale? I would love a gray of any kind lmao everything’s white or black, is there any service that could be trusted to paint internals like a gpu? would it be paying for an builder to disassemble my parts and then I could get the externals custom painted? I’d like some more customization than my rgb. All just a toothache not worth bothering about but yenno

Several, but there rather niche these days. So depending on what you want, it’s harder to locate.

4 manufacturers that come to mind are Apevia, Antec, Chieftec, and Thermaltake.  You may be able to find some vintage stuff from them on EBay.

  11. If it still existed, I would build a system in a clear plexi case with a DFI LanParty motherboard and some uv reactive sleeved cables and cold cathode tube lights.

  12. Play_outStation_5

These were the days. The zero air flow days lolol

I remember Xoxide selling an acrylic case like the last one in 2009.

I had a custom case in this era I’d made myself from a very beige minitower; kind of an electropunk/Frankenstein’s lab kind of thing, with organ-stop pulls for power and reset, and a giant plasma globe I got from a Spencer’s Gifts. Great case except when I ran the globe it made voice chat unusable because of the massive unshielded RF transformer running the plasma globe, lol

  15. Dbz-Styles

That first one looks like a modified case. I wanna say the original is X-Blade but it’s been a long while since I had it.

  16. ICastCats

    Evercase has one too: http://www.evercase.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=63_89&product_id=115

  17. Yeah, it’s called whatever you want combined with a Dremel and 3d printing

  18. RexorGamerYt

well you could just case mod. buy the cheapest pc case for your motherboard and mod the hell out of it (3d printer). otherwise, its just better to buy used

The Flamed sports car looking case is an ASUS Vento 3600 modded with a window, gauges, switches, fan openings and exhaust pipe. I believe the rings in the front are hood pins as that section of the case would open upwards like a car hood or up and back like, ummm, iron mans face mast on his helmet.

The rest are all regular PC cases that people modded themselves. Cutting windows in was huge in the early 2000, and around that time, lexan/plexiglass cases were pretty big – and expensive.

I built a PC in a plexiglass case and it was a nightmare. All screws were specific to the case and once built, even then, it ran hot AF. 80mm fans were the norm, and putting them anywhere you could still didn’t move enough air.

If you want to see some really badass custom cases, simply google PC case mods and switch to images. The results are on another level of cases and art.

You could just buy them and keep using them

  21. I’ll build you whatever case you want if the price is right.

  22. No_Bat7157

You can totally find old style cases new but these are all custom

  23. mrballs6942069

Honestly the closest thing i could recommend you is to customize something like a fractal design Focus g case

  24. https://starforgesystems.com does some…

…but I wouldn’t buy from them personally. They supposedly make decent PC’s though.

Not exactly the same here, but another option is the Hyte Y series that have screens that can be customized, and a cooler with a screen, etc.

  25. Moist_Entrepreneur34

Zalman brand on amazon has some similar cases.

  26. That was some good nostalgia. I remember spending a lot of time checking out mods and chatting at VirtualHideout back when case modding was more of a thing.

I still have an assortment of old modding supplies and maybe even some of the old rounded IDE ribbon cables.

In Malaysia, we have AVF, X-Five, Alcatroz, TinyTech, Dmes. They looked generic but it exist, we mostly find their listing in online stores and retail but it’s very rare to find them. I wish they still do so….

Nowadays, pc cases are having the 3.5 and 5.25 inch drive bays reduced or no more drive bays. Most pc cases focused on interior aesthetics and airflow.

If you want It to look like in those pictures then you really need to mod the pc case to fit your personal preference.

There’s some windowed side panels pc cases but it was sold in online store sites somewhere in Indonesia or Philippines…

  28. Pixelkoch

Back in the day many people also did pc mods by themself. Did many like these with Friends.

  29. PROzeKToR

God it’s like 2000’s hair and shirts translated into PC cases, the fuck

  30. solidstatepr8

I havn’t seen an OEM one like these in a long long time unfortunately. A few of these pics are oldschool case mods.

I think the windows with the giant rubber gasket should make a comeback though
