Old games before WASD was the standard used all sorts of random keys
KingFIippyNipz
IT’s WASD but with the W and S moved up an extra row so you don’t have to curl your middle finger in as much.
Edit: well not moved up, the left right is moved down, but for the same effect
TJLanza
I looked at a handful of alternative keyboard layouts (ZQSD would be the AZERTY equivalent to WASD, for instance), but I couldn’t find anything where SWCZ or any other arrangement of those four letters would reasonably fit.

It’s been awhile but I’m fairly certain that KOTOR had WASD key layout by default for the US version.

Shot in the dark here.
The game shown here (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic) was developed by BioWare, a Canadian developer.
While most are familiar with the QWERTY keyboard layout there is also the AZERTY keyboard layout used for French, and Canada happens to include speakers of both English and French.
WASD was not always the standard for movement, although KOTOR was announced in 2000 and Half-Life (1998) is largely credited with popularizing the control scheme despite other games using WASD before it. However while WASD works for QWERTY it becomes ZQSD on AZERTY, meanwhile SWZC albeit slightly scrambled around still uses the same 4 keys on both layouts.
As a result if some of the BioWare developers used QWERTY and some of the developers used AZERTY then SWCZ would work for both layouts.

ESDF for the win.

A and D rotate the camera. (The camera doesn’t rotate vertically)
Q and E select different things in the room.
Don’t look up ANY info about this game online, because the plot will be spoiled to you.

I don’t know, it’s all unintuitive to me since I play left handed and rebind the shit out of every game I play.

This is what I’d use if I had incredibly short index and ring fingers.

Can’t comment to the question, but I had to say, this is a great game.
Hope you enjoy it, meatbag

Back in the day WASD was not standardized. Games made for consoles that had a PC build had notoriously bad keyboard controls.
Aggravating_Rest1937
Greatest game ever made.
comrade_gremlin
hell yeah KOTOR!
MeanForest
Talking about WASD, Jedi Knight Dark Forces II was the first game ever to have WASD as the default configuration. It even has multiple quick save slots. Most games don’t even have that nowadays.

Brilliant game. Hope you enjoy it.
