Considering thier market position I find it insane Xbox increased the prices of thier consoles in the US and the prices of thier games to $80 before PlayStation did

Let this be a resounding example of “voting with your wallet doesn’t matter, prices are going up no matter what, morons,” being refuted.

Microsoft’s gaming department is a fucking mess

  4. SenAtsu011

This must be an industry first. Can’t think of any other game release where the developers admitted it was too expensive, turned the price down, and issued refunds. Maybe some smaller indie titles, but this is new to me.

Wait has this already come out?

Wait no they’ve just preemptively cut the price

I like the dev, I liked the first game but it’s $99 canadian here for the base edition. Which was a serious no way in hell from me.

Wow this is wild man. Xbox is a fucking mess right now.

  8. The backlash clearly worked but Nintendo fanboys still defended Mario Kart World being $80 price for some reason.

  9. They saw preorder stats and backtracked obviously

It’s crazy to see Avowed or The Outer Worlds 2 priced like they are/were, xbox is absolutely not in that position to just do that, crazy

  10. easyasdan

Pre-order numbers must have been real bad for them to admit this and pull back on the price

  11. pineapplesuit7

Preorders must have been absolutely shit lol

  12. FeelingInspection591

It’s a good thing their prices aren’t going up after all, but this is yet more proof that Xbox has zero consistent vision or strategy.

“Microsoft saw that sales were dogshit and adjusted”

  14. This is oddly admirably in an industry that lacks any semblance of that typically.

  15. NothingWrong1234

Great now do other games. So many games are priced so high and don’t have the content to back the price up at all

  16. WebHead1287

$70 is still too much for this game if I am being honest. $50 would be my absolute limit. The first one is decent but not amazing.

I loved The Outer Worlds. There are games that can get away with charging $80, The Outer Worlds 2 is not one of them.

  18. crossy1686

This was the plan all along, they know Outer Worlds 2 isn’t a $80 game, I don’t think anyone even asked for a sequel to the first one.

How do you go from $60 to $70 games? You go from $60 to $80 and pretend you’re being humbled down to $70.

  19. GoatCovfefe

The first game was good. Not great, but it was enjoyable for a playthrough. Nothing that made me want to spend anything over $30 for the second one. I’ll still wait for a sale.

  20. freakedmind

I don’t believe this. But good on them, kinda? Anyway TOW is a fantastic IP and they should do all they can to promote sales instead of hindering it, good step.

  21. There is 2 pieces to take from this:

    1) Pre Order sales were SHIT, voting with your wallet works

    2) Microsoft has little confidence in the quality/scale of the game for them to cut the price and offer refunds.

  22. 69.99 is still too high for a sequel to a game that was barely mid at best.

  23. rayquan36

This is why you raise a stink online and don’t buy the game. Sorry Nintendo fanboys, you keep on pulling out your wallet for them $80/90 games.

  24. Soul_of_Miyazaki

If anyone ever tells you voting with your wallet doesn’t work, this proves otherwise.

  25. Fire_is_beauty

    It actually released ?

Anyway, can someone tell me when it’s on sale at less than 30 bucks ?

Given how “good” the first one was, I’m not too hot.
