Snap, I got one of these for Christmas over 40 years ago. Happy days. Used to love the smell of 80s electronics.

I had one of these, the button broke and my brother placed it. Watching my brother disassemble it, solder a new one in was my first taste of disassembling things

Omg. I had one of these too had to push the button really deep for it to work.

Holy shit I had one of these! My mum brought it back from Hong Kong and I thought it was a technological marvel!
Many years later and games is still my favourite hobby and ai never could have imagined how far it has come!

Man I forgot I even had one of these. Got it for Christmas one year in the early 80s. No idea what happened to it 🙁

I’ve still got mine, no longer functions though.

Maybe I’m being ignorant, but how does this work?

I had one of these back in the dark ages, I loved it but I found it far too limiting and easy compared to something like the Grandstand Astro Wars which I borrowed.
Galaxy Invader 1000 sell for between £40-£150 on eBay.

At first I thought this is a resin printer
Molasses-Flat
Really great to see that a lot of folk had one of these.

I don’t believe that qualifies as a “video” game.
Burninate09
I had a similar one, but it was black and blue.
Also – Little people! I had the barn that Moo’d at you, among others.

Anyone have a “Digital Derby Auto Raceway” with the spinning bands of film and mini steering wheel?
sbcroix
Not to be dismissive, but I think the Galaxy Invader 1000 is considered an electronic handheld game, not a video game. The difference is that it uses LEDs rather than a screen.
But awesome post, and a great piece of gaming history!

Ha we like the small toy next to it for scale. Very 9gag.
Bullseye_Baugh
Shout out to the “little people” toy in front. I’m reminded of my elementary school counselors office.

Radio Shack – I have one of these about 10 feet from me rn. Mine is branded “Tandy” and was sold as the Cosmic 1000 Fire Away for the US market.
