“Games have come a long way since Mario 64” – understatement of the last 25 years 🤣

  2. mind_mine

Mario 64 was a masterpiece. It’s like saying art has come a long way since the Mona Lisa

  3. sirhalos

Didn’t even know he did the English voice, I’ve been playing with French voice and English subtitles, since it was a French company that made it. Am I the only person that does this? Whatever company designed and made the game I use those voices with English subtitles.

  4. LOST-MY_HEAD

Honestly a non gamer could play it on easy

  5. zurlocke

I’d imagine it’s a tad overwhelming for someone to try a medium again after not having done so for so long. Give a sprouting art form 30 years of innovation and it’ll be on an entirely different world.

  6. Brian Griffin, come sing “You’ve got a lot to see”

  7. Adavanter_MKI

Charlie… you’re my age! You mean since Duck Hunt!

  8. Unfortunately I really couldn’t get myself to like turn based mode, where the main core of the gameplay was to press a button at the right time. But scenery, visuals and music were amazing

  9. Strange_Compote_4592

I will never get over the fact, that these mechanics were on a Mario game on a GBA (superstar saga’s active combat), and only now people realise how amazing they are

  10. TheRexRider

That’s true for a very long time, yet show runners think they can disrespect Halo.

  11. Ok-Win-742

That wasn’t the best example to be fair. Mario 64 still holds up really well.

  12. dkyguy1995

“Movies have come a long way since Citizen Kane”

  13. THE_GR8_MIKE

Game have come a long way since Pacman. And Pong.

    And Tim Rodgers.

  14. JulianWyvern

Oh man, if he said “…since Paper Mario” it’d be hilarious because of the similar systems between the two games

  15. GrouchyLog6359

Gustave reminds me of Robert Pattinson

  16. To be fair, Super Mario 64 is still regarded as one of the greatest games of all time lol

  17. CripPick

He probably said “since Mario 64” because that’s the last game he played. Come on, guys, critical thinking.

Edit: read the article and it literally says in there that he hasn’t touched video games since Mario 64.

  18. Antergaton

Had to check the article, just to check context.

I do wonder sometimes people of my age/gen how they can be absent from a certain hobby (okay so it might have not been his main hobby but still) for so long not realising the progress but guess that is why he’s known and I’m not. He’s not playing video games, he’s staring in them.

As for coming a long way, I like to point to people that FF6 to FF10 was 7 years and look at the diffence and FF10 was nearly 25 years ago.

  19. richman678

Yeah he honestly should. I wonder if knows he voiced a character that’s universally loved by all gamers who played expedition 33.

While gaming has become a much more accepted hobby in the past 10-15 years, some people do just grow out of things. Charile’s probably one of those people.

It’s like that guy who convinced his dad video games aren’t a waste of time by letting him play through Dark Souls (I’m not joking). They streamed their adventure together through several months and it was a real bonding moment, with the dad realizing that games have come a long way since old NES titles.

  21. Oh shiii. TIL Gustave is voiced by Charlie Cox. Just started playing CO:E33 last night and already sucked in!

  22. Lol dude talks about this game like he did his voice lines over the phone, got paid and went about his day

  23. If I wanted to check out Mario 64 do I need to play the other 63 installments?

  24. Synth_Savage

How is this grown ass man so damn adorable??

  25. GuarroGrande

    Wait, Gustave isn’t Robert Pattinson?

  26. hushpuppi3

Is there any purpose to cast real actors in video games apart from making them more expensive and take longer to make AND make sequels more complicated? How many people though “Oh this game has Charlie Cox’s likeness in it, I’m going to try it now?”

    It seems so absurdly pointless

  27. Transposer

If they ever make a proper DD game, I hope Cox would be interested in playing the character. Dude is Daredevil.

  28. scitychicken

Now try and better game than a teenage emo girls attemp at a French final fantasy fanfic.

  29. mbishopp

Platforming games sure haven’t tho, looking at you Gestral Beaches

  30. SuperRareOriginals

Just WAIT till he discovers indies.

  31. Longjumping_Visit718

Poor guy doesn’t realize how good of a job he did…🤣

  32. Healthy-Training-923

No, games have come a long way since PAC-MAN! Get it right!

  33. DckThik

This is one of those games I picked up to see what the hype was about and then quit because I hate the controls. You guys can have it, I’m good.

  34. Prodigle

Honestly I don’t think games HAVE come that far since Mario 64

  35. purplehaze214

I always thought Gustav looked like Robert Pattinson, not Charlie Cox..
