I was doing an occt stress test on the system when it happened

Its probably fine, just a really high spike. Do you know the power excursion of your PSU?

2×8 pin power connectors can deliver close to 350W safely (a bit more if I’m not wrong) plus 75W from the PCIE slot.

I’d just make sure it is two separate cables leaving the PSU, just to ease my mind.

If your concern is only power, since you don’t say anything about what is too high. If you’re worried about clocks, that’s what GPU boost will do, increase clock speed if there’s sufficient power and thermal headroom. Also, GPU hotspot is fine up to 105C, I usually don’t go above 95C, just for longevity. But lower is usually better with thermals.

Mine does the same in occt. Normally +15% pwr still stays under 350w in any other case…. But using occt GPU tests I see 380w (default clocks) and we’ll over 400 with the +15% pwr. It can’t be real right?

    Xfx 7900xt black. 2x8pin.
