The censorship of 80+ games on Steam this week was apparently the work of Australian antiporn group Collective Shout, which partnered with US evangelicals to pressure Visa and Mastercard.

Hello KarateKid84Fan, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/wiki/rules)!
We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post!
To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous!
Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again!

VICE had two articles up about this, which promptly got removed after the hard right groups learned that they were being scutinized, and then went after the company that owns VICE.
The VICE journalist then promptly quit, with a bunch of her coworkers following suit.
These go into detail about who these people are, what they stand for, and which hardcore religious groups are helping to support them.
Collective Shout is using the same exact methods that the group Exodus Sky used to get all payment companies to ban Pornhub and other adult websites. Exodus Sky is aiding them in their efforts.
Both groups M.O. is to dig through the content of a place that has content that they don’t like, try to find something unpleasant (such as Pornhub having user generated under-age content), and then threatens them. Payment companies capitulate because they’re afraid of the bad PR if the groups start saying that “they support Pedophiles”, essentially. All because they dug up that .001% that got past content moderation.
Exodus Sky wants to ban ALL adult content on the internet, and pretty much everywhere else.
Collective Shout wants to ban any game where a female character is seen as “in distress”, which they then say it “promotes violence against Women.” See: Detroit: Become Human and GTA 5, which they tried to get banned.
Here are those two articles, which were saved by the internet archives:
These are the batshit crazy groups that VISA and other payment companies are listening to, and are now causing Valve and other place to delist games for.

>In 2022, [Exodus Cry argued in a news post](https://web.archive.org/web/20250719204151/https://exoduscry.com/articles/disney-fortnite-and-pokemon-the-animated-porn-luring-kids-to-porn-sites/) that online searches for “video games,” “Fortnite,” and “Pokemon” lead children to graphic sexual content. The article proceeded to criticize the viral *Animal Crossing: New Horizons*-inspired [Ankha Zone NSFW dancing meme](https://web.archive.org/web/20250719204151/https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/ankha-zone) for “using a character from a popular children’s video game.”
