I was on Windows for 25+ years and made the switch to Linux this year. The last time I had tried Linux years ago it was nothing but problems, but this time everything just worked, and in most cases it worked better. I haven’t had a single issue with any games I want to play (granted, I don’t play games with anti-cheat), and it’s just been a really wonderful experience.
I recently had to go back to Windows on my work computer and it’s been painful. All the bloat and random weirdness in Windows now feels so much worse once you’re away from it for a while. I defended Windows for a long time, and I’ve even been called a Microsoft fanboy before, but I will never willingly use Windows again.
Anyone who feels comfortable trying something new, and doesn’t have a specific reason why they have to stay on Windows, I strongly encourage to give Linux a try. I’m not saying it isn’t without its own issues, but it might really surprise you how far it’s come like it did me.
