This is why we should never support company like this

It’s crazy how fast xdefiant died off and they called it the cod killer 💀

  2. Except SKG is not about supporting old games, it’s about allowing users to support them. Basically, just releasing the server to public access, maybe doing some minor fixes so players would be able to run their own servers and join them.

I’ll boot up The Division 2 every now and then, but even then its like, why waste time, they will shut it down anyway, I got Motorfest super cheap, played it a little bit, but again, why waste my time leveling and collecting things if the potential for them to shut it off out of the blue is there, Fuck Ubisoft.

I know live service games run the risk of being taken down at some point, but Ubisoft really dug themselves a hole with me, Not even slightly interested in their copay paste games, you play one, you’ve played them all.

AAA publishers and pirate software keep confusing playable state as lifetime support.

  7. Agree games can’t and shouldn’t be supported forever or, in my opinion, for a single moment after it’s ready to sale. Finish the game, sell the game, and go away forever.

Just like some people, Ubisoft probably didnt even bother to read what the stop killing games initiative is even asking for. Its painfully easy for them to do the bare minimum of what is being asked with it.

They probably got to the page of what it will NOT do in big red letters and are assuming the opposite.

I absolutely loved Jedi Fallen Oder and Jedi Survivor and a third installment will definitely be bought. Star Wars Outlaws… not so much.

SKG isn’t about maintaining support, it’s about ~~keeping~~ abandoning games in a working state.
For what reason does a single player game need to call home to function and why isn’t a patch made public when those authentication servers are taken offline?
Other than profit there aren’t many valid reasons.

I am empathetic towards the idea that a developer cannot run the servers for a game forever because it would basically be throwing money down a hole.

Too bad that’s not what SKG is asking of them.

  13. There really should be a law, where at release publishers need to define a date for how long the game will minimally be playable and if they want to close a game earlier, customers would be refunded.

Then we as customers would have more choice where to use our money.
