As the title asks, do you think V morally does the right thing most of the time?
A good example of this question would be if you believe V only works to their own benefit and not really caring about others. Some gigs and offers made to V can give them the opportunity to gain free eddies just as long as they follow orders. Do you think he or she would take them up on this offer purely based on V's character?
From my experience playing the game, there's definitely more "rude" or "raunchy" dialogue options rather than the nicer ones. And I can definitely feel this influence how I choose to speak and how I play the role as V.
Do you think you're V is a bad person? I'm not saying V is bad if they make a couple bad decisions, but do you think V leans more to the bad side or more to the good side?
I know it's a hard question as WE the player are the ones picking and choosing these decisions, but given the context of the game and multiple playthroughs, you can kinda get a jist of who V is as a person.

He’s a mercenary. Yes.
Honestly, a lot of this is dependent on you as a player. You’re left with choices all throughout the game, some of them are shitty things to do.
It depends. If you’re going for a nicer v than duh, if you’re going for an asshole v then duh no. I’m pretty sure cannon v is overall a good person but a victim of their environment. Cyberpunk is a world where the safest country is tiers more dangerous than the most dangerous irl countries, so a good person in cyberpunk may very well be the worst person ever in ours. Overall tho the story give you more options to speak than shoot first and when it’s time to care, v has many moments out of control where they show empathy and the whole Merc life rely’s on the willingness to help. There are many choices where v just helps without reward in mind, the rewards just come. I’d say overall v would be a solid individual, given the right circumstances.
Also remember v has a terrorist in their head so after act 1, v would canonically be more of an asshole through Johnny’s influence. They’re one tho so the Johnny-v may still be a better person than Johnny themselves
Maby V isn’t a “good” person by traditional standards, but they’re not bad either, in my opinion they’re a product of Night City.
V does what he has to do to survive. Sometimes that means taking dirty gigs for eddies, but it’s not always out of pure selfishness. V is loyal to the people he cares about; Jackie, Judy, Panam, etc. and he’ll go out of his way for them if it matters.
Morally, V operates in a grey zone. It’s not about doing the right thing, it’s about doing what makes sense in the moment. In a city that constantly screws you over, V’s just trying to hold onto any bit of humanity they can.
So nah, I don’t think my V is a bad person.
And about him appearing rude, I’d say V isn’t naturally rude, he is just hardened by the city, and his tone is often armor, not his whole character.
What do you think chooms?
Define good or bad. I don’t really believe in ‘deep down’ tbh, all you are is just the things that you do. Things like redemption, doing good acts or doing bad acts isn’t a destination, it’s a state of being. I wouldn’t really call any of Cyberpunk’s characters good guys or bad guys, they are just guys who can do either or both until death.
A good person at heart who is yet another victim of Night City. Similar in some ways to Arthur Morgan, a good heart but born into a life that doesn’t always allow them to be a good person. (Obviously V in this case hasn’t done anything near as bad as Arthur Morgan though).
lol V is the worst. She/He is definition of what is wrong in NightCity.
People aren’t good or bad, well the vast majority anyway, there are always outliers. It’s all about the decisions we make and the way we treat people. Since we the player get to determine a whole lot of decisions around that, it’s kinda up to you and how you decide to play that particular run.
Now we can learn about stuff V does before NC and whatnot, so you can say, V did this or that before the main story, etc, and use that as evidence to say they are good/bad, but we usually aren’t given enough info to truly know V’s motivations. I think it’s also important to understand that morality in Night City, what is acceptable and what is frowned upon, is significantly different from our current real world.
TL;DR- People aren’t “good” or “bad.” It is a conscious choice to live a moral and just life. Every day, with every decision we make we choose to be “good” or “bad.” So it’s all about how you choose to play your V.
One of my saves is potentially the villain lol
I think the question is antithetical to the themes of the game and the genre as a whole.
No, not a good person. Essentially, will do anything for survival with no other thought.
Are any of us truly good people, or just good at pretending to be good people? Truer question to ask. lol
I’m not even sure that V thinks they’re a good person. As a merc, V seems to do things more for the sake of their fee rather than their heart.. until the player decides to pick choices based on morality at least.
You can make moral decisions in some of the side gigs and the fixers might even commend you for it, but at the same time they might comment on how it wasn’t part of the gig and it just makes another problem for them to deal with.
V is a merc and any merc wants to be the best of the best. Not a lot of room to be soft, especially in NC — V has been screwed over too many times but is definitely no stranger to mercy. On the other hand, I think where V tends to show their colors is when it comes to doing missions for El Capitan, River, Judy, and Panam (at least from what I can remember) considering that these questlines aren’t about the money and more about helping a broader group of people, usually more vulnerable people. V has a heart for people who can’t defend themselves.
Additionally if there’s a group that goes against V’s moral limits, it’d be Scavs, Maelstrom, and Voodoo Boys. I think V would go after them every time.
I think its dependent on your choices. You get a lot of freedom in terms of moral compass, you can be an angel or a complete jackass. Lots of choices regarding sparing or murdering people, to understand and embrace, or to criticize and traumatize. I played the game trying to be as kind as possible, sparing as much people as possible, trying to not kill cops etc. But today some motorcycle cops decided that they should absolutely piss me TF off so I went and got a no police mod and then an hour long rampage in NC mowing down everything I could see….. corpos gangsters civilians alike.
Good, bad… I don’t know if :
1. it applies to Night City and the cyberpunk genre in general,
2. these notions are any relevant at all, except in very manichean universes like Star Wars, but not in anything resembling real life.
Anyway, for Night City, you kill people by the hundreds, but they’re all (or at least mostly) violent gangers who kill others for a few eddies, or just for fun. In other words, you’re a mass murderer, but also a contractor defending innocent bystanders from unregulated gang (and sometimes police) violence. That alone makes me think that “good” or “evil” just don’t apply to this universe.
We could go much longer on the subject, but that would quickly become a borefest.
Is the person who goes around killing and robbing people a good person? Huh I dunno
My V is a good person I turn down jobs that are outright evil like murder kidnapping or transporting human beings but in cannon they are definitely a bad guy not arasaka level but we are willing to hurt and kill for money and personal gain so
Mine is defenitely not a good one!
Nah V is definitely a psycho, they kill people and as such can’t be considered good at best they’re neutral
It’s a fucking rpg wtf you can roleplay a good or bad person if you want and you know morality ain’t black and white.
Depends on how you play.
I play my V as a goodish person, whenever you meet a target who has killed someone innocent and they try bribe you he is disgusted by them and never takes it.
I don’t think we ever really know if V is as a person by the time we get to the game, honestly. In one of the endings, you hear Johnny say something along the lines of, “I’m the V that is compassionate, is a good friend, and so on and so on.”
As soon as SoulKiller enters V’s head, I would imagine that V’s mind is already changing. Some melding of Johnny is replacing her brain, and maybe part of that is replacing her personality as well. Towards the end V is supposed to melt away and Johnny is supposed to take over. But do we really know that? Or is what’s going on is a merging of the souls?
All I can really say is that if you play Corpo V, he/she does a lot of underhanded stuff to get ahead in corporate. V isn’t just some corporate cog who got swept up into things. V actively conducts corporate espionage and blackmail.
Me after doing a reflection on all my choices in the game

V is definitely not a good person under any moral standards. When we play, we are a criminal from the very start up to the very end.
But I’d say V is pretty professional if you chose to be. You can choose to care a percentage but it’s you the player who gets to choose. Personally, I don’t think my V is a good person after some things I’ve done in-game lmao.
Edit because:
– You kill civilians and they are collateral damage
– Corpo V. That’s all I have to mention.
– Going back to #1. You kill. A lot.
– You only choose to be soft if it benefits you and your characters role-play.
– V works for horrible people and accepts their gigs all the time like cmon? Dexter, Takemura and Rogue. All “morally grey” characters which translates to “I will only give a fuck if I want to”
– By the end, V literally changed nothing, so none of their actions really mattered to be considered good in the first place.
So V is a survivor, but not necessarily a good person by any means.
In cyberpunk 2077 you can’t do anything that is 100% morally right, and this is by design, if you have the impression you can then either your impression is wrong or the developer failed (they didn’t)
I mean for me I didn’t kill anyone during my play through unless it either forced me too or they definitely deserved it.
Depends on how you’re playing them. Ruthless solo, or merc with a heart of gold.
But I do feel as though there’s a slight leaning towards V being more good inclined overall; as much as you could in this verse anyway. Generally, they’re opposed to seeing things that are pretty messed up, such as human trafficking, Evelyn and Clouds, etc.
I also think there’s a pretty definitive anti corporate stance V consistently takes. At most, if he’s on a corporations side, it’s more he portrays it as a “lesser evil” compared to the alternative option.
No
I routinely kill dozens of innocent pedestrians just driving around because I floor it everywhere
