This is ridiculous that a payment processing company is interfering with the store front.

Edit : You guys downvoting really think these people will stop at just “porn” ? The rich christian puritan fucks behind these decisions have a agenda along with a lot of patience and motivation.

But sure… “Protect the kids” or whatever the excuse is at the moment.

Is there like a loop hole for it? Make a game, remove said issues from it on steam version, and devs just host a patch on a website? Like the good old days before R18 stuff was allowed on Steam, or is that not allowed either anymore.?

Once again I don’t understand the outrage. Valve needs to be able to offer credit card as payment method, it’s the most used payment method and having to remove it would be an absolute disaster. You should be outraged at the CC companies, not a valve for “cowardly following their rules”.

Okay, why tf is it any of their business what Steam sells as long as it isnt illegal?

They earn money from 18+ titles all the same, dont they?

  6. hazzap913

If this is the case then visa shouldn’t let alcohol providers use their services since it’s an 18+ product

That’s it guys, keep spamming the porn games, just mod the game taken down so you can skirt the rules, we can make steam the porn empire it deserves to be, with all the seed dirty disgusting trappings it comes with ! Yay !

The true culprit behind this recent wave is a group called “Collective Shout”, a feminist group that believes doing this performative crap will actually produce results rather than just stoke resentment towards their group.

They’ve actually gone after a normal video game before: Detroit: Become Human was gone after by them due to the fact that a child and a woman got physically assaulted.

Doesnt’t steam allow you to add money to your steam wallet? At that point, payment processors do not care what you do with that money

People don’t realize these big credit card companies are run by religious cultists. They push their moral compass and agenda on to everyone else. I’m not even joking.

  11. YZYSZN1107

Some AVN developers have been “re-mastering” their game and taking out scenes and certain taboo’s so they can get on Steam. On the one hand your on Steam but then you alienated a huge base that enjoyed the game for what it was. It’s a tough battle.

I hope Valve fights against this in the future, maybe they will get all the effected devs involved and do a lawsuit together with them against these companies, there no way what these companies do can be legal right especially in EU for example ?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong because I don’t understand this whole situation, but can’t people just add funds to their account and use that for the purchase instead of their card directly to go around this? I understand that the problem with the situation is that it’s inconvenient and raises concerns but if it’s gonna stay wouldn’t this be easier than installing a third party patch? Or would the game get removed entirely from Steam if the companies don’t like it?

I have a question, what if valve make it so that you can buy games only using the steam wallet and not directly through your card, would that allow nsfw games back up since visa is only linked to the wallet now and not the game directly? So you’d top up your wallet then buy the game through it.

porn and low effort games have polluted the storefront for ages, they can be filtered out but they should be by default.

If anything most of the promotion algorithms prevent me from reckless spending on even more games.

A lot of bullshit about how this was caused by religious zealots out to censor video games, when in reality, it’s the credit card companies and payment processors protecting their assets. It is about money, not about morality.

Visa, Mastercard, and other companies got caught up in a lawsuit in 2020 with Mindgeek (The owners of Pornhub) over illegal content hosted on Mindgeek sites, which has cost them tons of revenue. The lawsuit stems from a woman who accused her boyfriend of posting a video of her on the site when she was still 13. Federal judges have denied Visa’s request to be removed from the lawsuit.

Since, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and other payment processors have made it clear they will remove their services from companies who host content that is considered illegal. Basically covering their assess should they get caught up in another lawsuit. Again, it’s about money, not morality.

Valve should become their own payment processor hmmm
