Not that it’s a great practice and terrible for the employees, but don’t game studios normally go through layoffs after game releases?

The game is a stuttering piece of shit. Deserved.

It’s just a remaster, it’s not getting new content or updates. The product is done so it kinda makes sense that lay-offs would happen? They really need to fix the issues with optimisation and the extremely frequent crashes

“Thanks for doing great work with the Oblivion remaster! And by the way… you are fired!” – “So, that’s it, after all these years, so long, good luck?” “I don’t recall saying good luck!”

Job well done. Get the fuck out.

Bruh can we stop acting shocked about this. Game is done studio doesn’t need the extra hands and they get fired.

What is with the commenters writing this off as normal? When you finish up a project at work do you expect to get fired or do you start prepping for the next one?
It’d be different if there was restructuring, a change in ownership, or financial issues. Otherwise this really shouldn’t be justified without a good explanation. At best we are talking about terrible management that is causing hundreds of families to go without.

I remember people on this sub were optimistic about Microsoft buying every American publisher.
Not sure what they thought would happen besides this kind of thing

That’s actually not that unusual for a one-off like this: bring in extra people to work on it without impacting your normal flow all that much, get the job done, and send them back out. People may not like harsh reality, but it’s still reality.

Wait that shit show of a remaster had _more_ than 300 people working on it?
