So as a (40M) dad of 3, 2025 has been a massive kick in the nuts. Our eldest daughter has a terminal condition so back and forth to the hospital has been draining. Our youngest who is autistic with ADHD drains whatever life is left so once everyone is down, my rig has kept me sane and positive on life.
It's made me look forward to something other than daily life. Having it has a hobby as been a huge lifeline so packing it all up actually bought a tear to my eye. If it wasn't for building, tweaking, gaming, I don't even think I'd still be around or who I am today. Mental health ain't no joke!
Thankfully through it all, I look back and tell myself it's all worth it! We're moving home tomorrow so whilst it's boxed, I can still look and smile knowing my hard work is safe and will be waiting for me to unpack and rebuild!

you should be talking with your pastor instead of posting here bro
I pray GOD gives strength and peace for you and your family
I recognize that subwoofer anywhere. Somebody’s using a Logitech Z-5500
Not terminal, but I have a medically complex child and I totally understand the hospital drain. My PC is also my lifeline. Idk how long this has been going on for with your family, but if it’s a recent diagnosis don’t be afraid to ask the hospital for mental health resources if you need it. Children’s hospitals often have a psychologist who can check in on the parents and offer resources.
Have 2 girls myself and they are my world. I have empathy for you. Try to keep your head up for them.
Video games are having a wrong name, they are more than just games. “Cyberscapes“ would be neat but it is not up to me to decide that. By building PCs, we assemble a small part of the universe that belongs only to us—individual, protected, and at the same time open and healing, if for nothing else, then at least for the soul (or whatever you want to call it). No matter how hard it gets, hang in there, keep fighting, and I wish you and your loved ones all the best. We all have more or less similar burdens. Good luck.
My man, Mental health is no Joke. You should find someone to talk to. It will help trust me. Having a hobby is great too.
I wouldn’t know what to do if it wasn’t for Programming, 3d printing, 3d modeling, Art and gaming. All of which my computer provides me with a great set of support for.
But being a father with a child having such an issue, you need someone to be their who will be able to help you with the loss if and when it happens even if it change and doesn’t seem likely. Things like this are hard trust me.
You’re right, mental health is a very real thing! I’m 40 as well and have had my ups and downs but be encouraged and keep your head held high. Know that you got this and lots of love and good vibes are being sent your way!
If it wasn’t for finding sim racing back in 2019, I’m not sure where I would be today. Or even if I’d “be” at all. Having something to be excited about or look forward to is essential. I hope life turns around for you and you continue to find joy in gaming.
good luck b… hope everything goes well
I hope better and happier times find you soon, friend.
