This is gonna suck for third party sites man 🙁 CSFloat gonna need to hold funds for like a week now
SleepinBoomerYT
New scam possibly?
MAXxMAN365
Does this kill trade websites? (Unless they add a 7 day buffer to hold the traded items)

What’s stopping people from right now going to skin selling websites and selling their skins for cash today before the websites have changed their backend systems and then reversing the trade????
i_swear_i_dont_bite
Another 1 week trade hold added damn
Neat-Process437
This is just gonna create another opportunity for scammers.

Gotta love they just came out with this two/three weeks after I got scammed by someone impersonating a friend and support refused to do anything. >_>

From what I understood, it’s like you can choose a skin and make it trade-protected. But you can still send skins that aren’t trade-protected normally, like before. The trade-protected ones just follow a different type of trade process. Maybe I am wrong but thats what I understood from the FAQ.
joebonekenobi
they just delaying skins for 7 days but both parties can agree before the trade to not have the trade protection on. Its gonna rock and roll the market but nothing major.
On the other hand they could of spent this time improving/updating cs2 THE GAME instead of “oo look a shiny thing” part of the game.

The fact that this has caused so much confusion goes to show how carless Valve are. They really should’ve put out video going in depth on these changes.

this is wild

terrible change, just increasing the odds of getting scammed lmao
So the user who actually got scammed has only 7 days to not only notice that they got scammed, but also to regain control of their account (if it got hijacked) and then reverse the trade. I guess that works but it still feels weird in those circumstances. Idk I’ve never been scammed
I feel like the trade reverse feature should be enabled by default, and then give users the option to disable it if normal people want to sell/trade skins for whatever reason. When they choose to disable it, it should take 7 days until the trade protection actually turns off and then the user can trade like before. Even have a big warning saying if you lose your skins after this is turned off in 7 days then valve absolutely won’t do anything to help you after you’ve lost your skins. Feel like this could help with skin sites but I don’t think Valve has those people in mind with a feature like this. I got the sentiment this feature was implemented for people who got scammed by reading the FAQ
I’m not entirely against this because seems like a good feature for people who lose their skins to something dumb or for people who really get scammed/hacked/hijacked and this can be done better.

It’ll suck having to wait 7 days but it’s really not that bad.
StrangeRevolution
is this effective starting today or will it back date to 7 days ago? asking for a friend
oktwentyfive
ah i love corporate gaming i will say for anyone trying to exploit this bc i no u idiots are out there steam will hold your account from trading ANY items in ANY game for 30 days so maybe that will keep exploiting ppl from doing it

Honestly seems like a good update?
Should make scamming way harder, tradesites will have to hold funds for 1 week for seller which is annoying i guess but not a big deal.
apostl3
We already have 7day anyways.
There is now more confidence in the skins knowing they won’t be scammed away so easily.
Only affects people that trade very frequently like cash traders, flippers, streamers (case unboxers). Which are the minority of the player base.

This probably kills CS skin gambling. Who the fuck wants to wait 7 days before they can start gambling? You would want to get the adrenalin *right now*.
The sites won’t die, most already allow crypto I guess so that will continue on.
anonymouspls
I wonder if you do a trade and then cancel the trade, if the item resets to 7 days untradeable
would be good to mess with gambling sites if so
Tankette55
Don’t overreact. It is not gonna kill trading sites. Just gotta wait longer.

Gambling sites are dead
This is what happens when you try to revert the trade https://imgur.com/a/vWAlIzX
I needed this in 2015
