This legendary retro title was key in establishing the beat em up / fighting genre of video games. Every single arcade and movie theater I went to as a kid had a cabinet of this game. Personally, I think this might be the best entry in the entire series, maybe even better than the sequel.

Idk man. Fighting game community heavily regards mvc2 as one of the greatest fighting games of all time.
Wait, this can’t be right. Spidey and Morrigan aren’t gazing intently into each other’s eyes.
Man I remember having this arcade cabinet loved just leaving it on and listening to the attract sound over and over

Capcom VS SNK2
Iād say Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat established the fighting genre. MVC2 is probably my favorite fighting game ever just ahead of Tekken Tag.
Cool game, but the fighting game genre (and the beat em’ up genre, of which this game is not a part of) were already well established when it was released. Street Fighter 2 came out in 1991 and Mortal Kombat in ’92, while this came out in ’98 and was the 3rd game in its own series.
It’s such a weird pose to make, but I can’t even think what the covers for the other MvC games look like
I miss Capcom’s sprite work from this era. They were so damn good.
Final Boss was easily a top contender for biggest bullshit Final Bosses in Fighting games, right up there with SF3TS Gill and a handful contenders for 3rd place.
