I recently purchased my first gaming laptop- Acer nitro 5 from Amazon, when I received the product everything was looking good the package label says all the right configuration.

I took half day off from work to setup my laptop and play with my friends. I turned on the laptop setup windows, registered the product for warranty and suddenly my intuition was like check the graphic card, so I opened dxdiag and the driver says it's a rtx 3050 I was baffled, then I checked nvidia control panel it says the same there too I was shocked and this is the first time something like this is happening to me.

I immediately contacted amazon customer care after half an hour of hold I finally registered a complaint and an "investigation" is going on which I'll be updated by 19th.

Tldr: purchased laptop with rtx 4050 but received the product with rtx 3050 even though the packaging says 4050

As soon as I saw “from Amazon” my immediate assumption is they messed up on the warehouse end

    That’s fucked up.
It should work out. Amazon has always made things whole for me.
Then again I never bought a laptop from them either.

  3. Whoops, they forgot to update the firmware to tell you its 4000 series.

Knowing Amazon they’ll just send you the right one. Might even refund you for the one you got. Amazon is pretty cool with returns, not saying you’ll actually get anything for free but they will without hesitation accept a return and send you what you paid for. Never heard of Amazon not doing that, unless you regularly scam them or something which I know that’s not what you’re doing if you are unfamiliar with their return process

  5. either Amazon screwed up labeling it or you got scammed together with them by someone who returned a “downgrade”

I was scrolling through pictures hoping to see something better than 4050(

  7. Repeat after me

“There is no such thing as a gaming laptop”

  8. Any time you order from Amazon you should get like three of the same thing to make sure at least one of them is good then return all the others on Bezos’ dime.

Just return it. Unless you don’t care and don’t game.

4050 6GB… Gaming laptop? No. Sorry bro.

Unless youre planning on playing non-AAA games or games from pre 2020, that performance is bad bad.

Just return it, get something else, save amonth more and get a 4060 atleast.

    I knew something was off when i saw 4050 6GB, the 4050 isn’t a 6gb card.

Amazon? Someone got a free upgrade, at your current expense.

Selling anything with a 4050 as a “gaming” anything should be illegal as false advertisement.

    Return with your proof.
Go in & say “They tried to dupe me”
    Well, not today!

  15. Sounds like something I would send back to the seller.

Why are u here on reddit posting about it?

  16. TortuousHippo

    4050 might as well be a 1060
Save your money and invest in a quality product.

Don’t waste time on this. Return it. They’ll drag you out past the 30 day return window.

Your not supposed to notice that they ran through their old stock in new packaging.

  19. Depneds what it says on the page you bougt it from.

If it says 3050, someone (at best) either printed the lable wrong or swapped them accidently with a different box.

If it says 4050 you should be up for return and refund/new product (hopefully).

Either way take a screenshot of the page you bought it from, just to be safe, lol.
