I know absolutely nothing about computers. Especially gaming computers. My 8 year old boy wants a gaming pc for his birthday. I found this bundle on Amazon. Would this be good enough for him to play Fortnite and Roblox?
Hello Animator-That, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/wiki/rules)!
We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post!
To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous!
Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again!

For that money get him a console or youre gonna need 800ish for a basic 1080p decent PC, for 499 youre not getting a gaming pc.
Top-Salamander1720
Get him a ps5 instead, more control over content as well

If that’s your budget I’d consider a console. Depending on where you are you might be able to find a descent used pc on marketplace for that price

This isn’t terrible, if your budget is higher go for something better but this is good for its price, especially with a 27in monitor. Only go with the 1030 for the gpu tho. I used to use a 730 and it can barely run games anymore, the 1030 is better.

Please do not buy any of those configurations

I’d say avoid, it doesn’t say which i7 for a start, most likely an older gen model which means older ram, that gpu (and the others) are basically display adapters, you can game on them but it’s a miserable experience, if you really want a pc I’d suggest looking at used gaming pc’s on local selling sites (although they can be massively overpriced, any queries about specs you can always post here and other pc subs) or watch some yt vids and learn how to build one yourself, there’s plenty of tutorials and guides for budget builds, you may have to buy used to stay within a budget but there’s plenty of decent hardware that can run the games you’ve said (Roblox basically runs on anything, Fortnite is abit more taxing but not very), there also the console option that others have suggested which is a easier option (it’s what I did for my son, Xbox series s is sooo much cheaper and with game pass there’s a ton to play for a monthly subscription) this pc is currently outdated and as your son grows his gaming interests will become more intensive (system wise) and then you’ll/he will want upgrade’s, with it being a dell office pc (looks sff) you’ll struggle with proprietary connections, proprietary motherboard size and also the type of gpu (if you want a better one later) you can fit in the case, which will all boil down to a whole new rig, seems like a rant but I’m just trying to save you future hassle lol hope you find what your looking for and good luck
