Think this is super important. Hope the government does something.

I signed a while back but I don’t think one of these petitions has actually ever accomplished anything.

It’s still important to sign, because doing something is better than nothing, but I’m not super hopeful.

The government will debate in parliament

3 85 year olds will be there

None of which will have ever touched a computer game

One will argue that computers were very important breaking the German codes in ww2

Another will think that they are talking about female data entry clerks from 1938 playing tiddlywinks on their lunch breaks

The third will scream that the conservatives/labour/reform have let too many/not enough immigrants in

  4. Im sure some melts will blame poor consumer rights on immigration while wanking over farage drinking a pint.

  5. Back when the scam transaction thing was kicking off other European countries banned mtx while the UK did nothing, so I expect much the same.

    Might be miss remembering.

I hope it does well, but I expect the result will be better in Europe than it will be in the UK.

I doubt that description is doing them any favours. Must admit when I saw the title I assumed it was some push against violence in games rather than compelling developers to keep the back end services running/ give away the tools so others can.

I hope something comes of it. Too many fantastic games have become abandonware.

This really needs to be argued in respect to digital goods in general, not just video games, being up the amount of e waste from products that are bricked after their server is turned off to encourage buying the next model.

I can’t even get my family to sign this thing, it’s just not framed in the right way to get them to care. We live in the age of everything constantly vying for attention and social media burning out our emotions through targeted highly emotive content. Something like this just doesn’t resonate, as far as a lot of people it’s good video games go away because little Jimmy spends too much time on them anyway.

It’s incredibly short sighted and inconsiderate of cultural artifacts.

The problem with UK parliament petitions is that even though a certain number of signatures guarantees a response from the government, and a certain larger number gauarantees a parliamentary debate, the government response is basically always “ha lol no”, and the parliamentary debates never lead anywhere.
