I finally hit a wall with my office getting hot in the summer, so i ducted all the hot air out! 3d printed a box to fit to the back of the pc and a tight 90 to get the duct connected to the ceiling where a small box fan used to be. And i replaced the crappy box fan with a 6" in line fan.
Now not only is my office cool, the AC runs substantially less, and my computer is running colder than ever! Water delta is down 6 degrees!
Only downside is the noise, but its not too bad. Im thinking of lining the inside of the duct with daynamat to quiet it down more.

Insulate the pipe for maximum gains.
Where is the fan? Move the fan as far away from you as possible. If its in the attic far away you won’t hear the fan, only the air moving.
Two 45 degree fittings are better for air flow than one 90 degree fitting.
At first glance I thought you’d put a wood burner under your desk
This is the way
I have been very very close to do this myself, but thought it was too crazy. Glad to see I’m not the only one.
Jesus… couldn’t just put the tower in the attic and run some wires down?…
You definitely beat the game.
Dang i love radical set up Like that! Gg!
What mount are you using for your monitors? How precise do they get with lining up the 3 monitors? I want to move to wall mounts and not sure where to start.
This is ingenious! I work in the residential energy efficiency field and I very much like this!
I tried a similar solution and discovered that my home office bakes even with the PC off… so I’ve moved it to my rack downstairs and am trying to live with Steam streaming for the summer
Haha I love this! 😅👌

Life imitates art
I hope that has some kind of one way valve in it to only let air out. You’re going to end up with insects nesting in your PC.
Its nice, but I think the window would have been easier.
I was just thinking about this too the other day. Need a 3d printer…
Climate change is real
Actually really nice done.
A question that come to my mind; what’s the reason for that big box instead of a dedicated connector for the exhausts of the case?
E.g. the big exhaust fan and maybe a blower exhaust depending on mounted gpu?
Looking forward to see the thought behind your decision 🖖
What are you gonna do in winter when you want the heat?
What is your plan for winter? Assuming it gets cold there that is. I’ve always lived in colder climates so as much as I want to do this for July/aug, I’d want to seal it off for the winter months to keep all that heat in.
I sense in the future our computers will be so powerful that we will need AC systems for our at home computers. (I know in data centers have AC and ventilation systems for their equipment, that’s why i specified at home computers)
Does this actually work?
