didn’t know my monitor was this garbage in blacks, though it’s still good nevertheless

Yeah OLED vs LCD is a night and day difference 👽
But sometimes with hdr enabled it can be very dark 😄

Holy shit. I have a 5 year old monitor… Maybe it’s time for an upgrade.

  4. Next-Theory193

This might be a sign for me to finally buy a $1000 monitor sigh

  5. Been running OLED’s for years and the contrast levels still surprise me.

  6. InstanceFeisty

I have same Alienware , very nice piece!

I’ve got an Odyssey g6 1440p 240hz panel that I used at around 10-20% brightness. The difference between this thing and an OLED when it comes to the blacks and contrast isn’t nearly as bad as an IPS. That being said, true hdr is something I can’t experience on it.

Sure I’ll get oled when I get money

  9. BatmanBecameSomethin

I intended to use my ips monitor as my second monitor. That just was not happening with the oled next to it.

If I didn’t have a nice VA ultrawide already I’d probably been on the OLED train years ago, their visual quality is just on another level especially vs IPS.

Just scored a free 480hz oled. The colors don’t pop as much as I expected, but yeah the black levels are insane.

I love looking at things I can’t afford

Damn you can get a 27″ 4k oled monitor for like $499 now? Might be time to upgrade…

    [IPS vs MiniLED](https://i.imgur.com/aHwDLLt.mp4)

I tested two Laptops myself and now I have the MiniLED model I can never go back.. it’s simply too good.

Everything, I mean EVERYTHING looks so much better.. especially games where you play in dark environments like 7 Days to Die, Ark at night, The Forest, everything.. movies look phenomenal and the black bars top and bottom don’t look ridiculous anymore.

  15. FORRRRTNITE

If you’re viewing this on an LCD panel, do they all just look the same?

  16. LightBluepono

i got the same reaction wen i played for first my steamdeck oled. i was freaking out its not starting. but.. it was just the total black boot screen XD

Legit thinking about a 240hz oled from gigabyte 1440p even put my current aw 240hz 1440p as a second monitor just beouse the ghosting and colors are amazing and i grew a bit sick of ipa from uaing an amoled phone

Emitting light vs not emitting light

Obviously OLEDs are great, but if I turned my monitor off, that means it’s better right?

  19. Jarizleifr

My 60Hz TN Samsung from 2009 is like the lower one. The colors suck ass, though. And dark areas in games are “dark” dark.

  20. OLED is just second to none at the moment.

The only downside is the burn-in.

I think the only technology that can beat it is Micro-LED, once it becomes smaller and  affordable.

  21. Jefafa77

I use my IPS for everything except gaming. Static taskbars and such, don’t want burn in.

Yeah seeing it next to my oled DWF its insane how crap the black levels are.

  22. I actually like mini-LED better. It’s close to OLED, but the colors and added brightness just looks so much better in action.

  23. Melliodass

Once you go OLED, you will never go back!

  24. totallynotabot1011

Oleds are great visually but lcds beat them in shelf life as they don’t have burn in after some years like oled.

  25. DragonmasterXY

You got some crazy bad luck in the IPS lottery, mine doesnt even look close to this. Maybe its the camera, maybe your monitor is just too bright. I have an LG Ultragear GP850B and that is even on 70 percent to bright. It looks a lot closer to your oled rather then your IPS.

  26. Master8248

It’s important to note that cameras tend to over exaggerate ips backlight a lot. You probably can barely make out the non-uniform backlight bleed on this image irl.

  27. RaptorPrime

I didn’t realize how badly I needed one. Holy shit

I have the same monitor and have a question for you. Do you have an issue with HDR? I got everything set up and calibrated HDR in windows. It looks great when it’s calibrated. My problem is it always needs reset. Every time to fire up I have to load the settings for my HDR. Or recalibrate it every time. Do you have the same issues?
