Idk how people defend this I hate single clip boards
Pumciusz
Not all new boards have them.
Noxious89123
Asus have been using this setup for over a decade.
I’ve never had issue removing modules from a ‘board, you just unlatch the single latch and then pull the DIMM straight out.
What’s the problem? Are you trying to pull the modules out wonky?

Lemme tell ya, I’m still actively using a dual socket DDR3 server board for Blender rendering. Its a supermicro dual socket board for Ivy Bridge era Xeon CPUs. That sucker has 24 ram slots, all double clip. Youd love loading it all up with ram, its so satisfying.
sylpher250
You download RAM these days anyway
AllMyFrendsArePixels
2 clip costs twice as much to make as 1 clip. Fractions of a cent. Enshittification ensues.

Y’all are babies. Literally just tilt the ram in and out.
TraditionalMetal1836
This shit pisses me off to no end and it’s been a thing for quite a long time now. My first board with that is 10 years old now.
Deblebsgonnagetyou
Mine has them, but tbf you can hardly call a 9th gen Intel modern at this point

Motherboard design is ancient AF when it comes to connectors and when they make new stuff, just like ram slots, it is way worse than before.
FrequentWatch9261
I prefer the newer 1 clip design. Two clips were fine but this is honestly easier to work with imo. It’s a minor thing but I definitely don’t see an issue with one clip. Two clip design was arguably worse.

Because often your CPU cooler will be so big it gets in the way, and you cant push the clip down. You really want to remove the whole cooler and apply new paste, or worse, remove a water cooling system to upgrade your ram later down the road?
Thenijiway183
Major case of skill issue

My Gigabyte Aorus B650m ICE AX some other BS alphabet soup etc. has two clips.
_Screw_The_Rules_
Once you are used to it, it’s easier and safer that way. You don’t have to check 2 clips, just one, after you are “done”.

“if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” rarely apply in exchange for innovation
which most of them absolutely sucks to the end users
toaster98
people have issues with that?
NationalisticMemes
intel has issues with two clips and big video cards, but there is absolutely no reason to do this on amd. Besides the fact that amd boards are usually very poor
HamburgerOnAStick
You know what I would love? a dual sided that you can have open only one side or both
KimchiGherkins
Wouldn’t say it’s any more difficult, imo
Smoblikat
100%, and all of the ASRock boards ive used recently had stupid CMOS battery holders that made it impossible to take the battery out.
Just give me the stupid silver tab 🙁
obog
I haven’t found the single clip ones to be terrible annoying but they are definitely just worse
RayneYoruka
I have 4 dimms next to each others.. those little pieces of shit make it so hard that I need to remove my vertical graphics card every time because the dimms won’t fully go on.
AgBullet2k1
You’re acting like you have to remove the ram each night before going to bed. Just install it once and leave it.
