the apps i use for my job don’t work on Linux, the games I play don’t work on Linux. Now what?
TryAltruistic7830
I disconnected my windows 10 from the internet. Good luck trying to force me to update now!
Watsyurdeal
Honestly if it weren’t for Destiny I’d be on Arch or Bazzite right now.
May set up a dual boot this month.
FrostyPeriods
I had to.reinstall windows 4 some reasons. N god damn it’s like getting cucked how yall even defend this shit is beyond me.
Can’t install windows without internet. MUST connect to microdick acc. And then comes the edge, Holy shit if they could they’ll bust in my house to spy on me, THEY WILL.
“Can we collect your data?”

Microsoft doesn’t even allow me to upgrade because TPM 2.0 bullshit.
Noobphobia
Windows 11 is fine.
Foreign_Spinach_4400
I went back an entire version of windows 11 just for windows mixed reality, 23H2 for the win baby
AP0LL0D0RUS
steamos isn’t really ready for desktop yet lol can’t wait though
ninjabiomech
Op the games I play don’t work on proton
Several-Shirt3524
Struggled a lot with drivers to the point it pissed me off, maybe in the future i will come back to linux

“buying habits”
brother, almost everything I use is pirated
ShwaBdudle
I use it because I need some of Microsoft’s proprietary software.
I tried Linux Mint. It’s good, I have it on my laptop. But, unfortunately windows must be kept:(
t3hmuffnman9000
Apart from the system requirements, I really don’t get all the hate for Windows 11. It offers plenty of improvements under the hood and the only noticeable difference is that the task bar looks different. Going from Windows 10 to 11 is one of the easiest Windows updates in the last 20 years. There’s basically no down sides in comparison to Windows 10, provided you have the TPM module to run it.
uTimu
I think of dualbooting win 10 and some linux distro.
But i have to do more research of what problems i will encounter.
Gamebird8
This is cute

Win10 LTSC
Jacque_Itch
I will always be able to find a job thanks to how terrible Microsoft is at literally everything.
Zarochi
Advising windoze users with minimal experience in Linux to switch is irresponsible and damages the reputation of Linux. Anyone who wants to switch should spend time driving the OS in a VM or on a computer they don’t rely on to get used to the fact that you will often need to edit config files or even make direct code changes and compile them yourself.
I absolutely love Linux, but recommending people just switch without them fully understanding how much more effort they will need to put into learning, is incredibly irresponsible.
talionisapotato
I mean is that something you should be proud of ? Not changing anything or trying anything new. IDK man! I think you should give something a try and then decide. But up to you I guess.
Queasy_Profit_9246
Can I see the frames before the comic, I am dying to know the problem.
No_Investment1193
Just use nobara or bazzite
Femboymilksipper
Linux is a pain in my ass but once SteamOS drops imma try it day 1 because its more likely to support games i like for now windows 11 cuz idc its better than losing games
CosmoKrm
I’m not going to W11. This is my last year. If Steam OS does not get a official launch this year I’m going with Bazite or some other Linux distro
mofuggnflash
I reserve the right to make my decision until the day before windows 10 support ends.
ixaias
in my defense i tried to install it via recovery image and the iso was broken
them1444666
The main problem with win 11 is layout for most, but the deeper issue is that current build 24H2 has some serious bugs that we in the it field still deal with primarily with compatibility mode lunching still needed and app persistent cross function, the only good thing I have to say about the build is it has good wmi repair tools but that’s just about the end of it if they stuck with 23H2 less issue would arise and I’d be getting more sleep
Many-Butterscotch729
i don’t pay for windows lol
zepsutyKalafiorek
I would gladly install SteamOS if it was ready.
LumpyAbbreviations24
Yes there’s no better alternatives
KevAngelo14
Nah, I’ll run W10 LTSC until my games don’t
vjollila96
why people keep keeping up steamOS? Its not a miraggle distro other options does as good job with gaming as steamOS
IcyTorpedo
Yes I am. Because Linux does not support the games I want, or specifically, the devs refuse to support it. Nothing I can do about it, but I want to play those games. The moment Linux gets the same support as Windows, I’m hopping off. Doesn’t mean people don’t get to criticize this platform though
Even-Smell7867
Wrong and I’d recommend anyone to give Linux a try.
steam os is not working yet on any of my system so it is bazzite instead
it is the closest thing.
tht1guy63
Dont see myself going steamos even on my ally. Or windows 11 till im actually forced.
DellOptiplexGX240
lol because the “solutions” all suck and dont really “fix” any of the “issues” with windows, yet they also bring their own set of issues.
and dont even try to tell me im wrong because ive run linux on the desktop for years
ZeusHatesTrees
Is that lady recommending uninstalling Windows and replacing it with SteamOS, which is not designed to replace your computer’s operating system?
ShadowBlade55
I’m out of the loop. What’s up with Windows 11? I only use my PC for basic internet stuff or booting up games, so I have very little exposure here.
InternetExploder87
Do all games work on steam OS? I was under the impression there were still a lot that wouldn’t work
center_of_blackhole
I paid or pay for apps and services that don’t work on Linux
Cad, video editing, cloud storage.
Even if it works on Linux, it doesn’t work properly (davinci, can’t import simple video files most of the time, what should I do go through hundred step to edit a 30 second video?
Freecad isn’t intuitive
Cloud storage that I use doesn’t have sync and third parties are too hassle. I spent more time fixing things than being productive on Linux.
There’s no better alternative for excel powerbi etc.
With my experience with Linux for 3-4 years, I moved back to windows again. It’s not perfect but I’m at that age, I need to get the work done and not spend time to do some other work to get the work done.
redneptun
no.
AxlIsAShoto
Saying SteamOS is dumb as hell. There’s a lot of perfectly functional Linux distributions.
I’m using Kubuntu right now. 🙂 (I was using manjaro but started getting weird errors after a while)

SteamOS? You mean Microsoft lite

Linux nad Mac do not fully support AdaptiveSync and VR. There is also a limited support for NTFS in both of these systems.

If none of my apps or games that I use on a daily basis work on anything but windows, then I’mgoing to use windows. I still have the right to dislike the direction Microsoft is taking their OS.

I’ve attempted the solutions and we’re locked in to crap bloat if we want our hardware and software to run.
P3chv0gel
I run exclusively Arch Linux and opensuse at home (work sadly requires windows). And everyone who is annoyed with windows should just try it out. I’d guess 95% of the people here already know how to create a bootable USB stick and most have some random SSD laying around. So other than a bit of your time, it doesn’t cost you anything to try
But i can completely understand if for example software you need just doesn’t work on Linux. I for example had to switch from fusion360 to freecad, because i couldnt get it to work at all
Eazy12345678
windows works fine enough for me i dont care.
as long as the computer does things i want im fine.
