I think one of the main reasons CSGO had a better hit feeling was that its ragdoll physics struck a good balance between the realism of CS:S and the exaggerated arcade-style mechanics of CS 1.6-2.

Also, the fact that you hear the headshot sound at full volume no matter how far away you are, and the bass-heavy sound that plays when you get a kill in cs2, i think they just make it feel more cartoonish instead of improving feedback. What do you think? I have never seen any discussion on these topics.

CS2 looks arcadey and prioritizes showing where the shooter was which makes information better, CS:GO looks like watching an actual person die

  2. csgo is more realistic but i think for competitive gameplay the new animation is alot better. very subjective tho

  3. csgo ragdolls are more appealing. Like the whole game over cs2

GO animations by far better can’t really say why

CSGO is certainly better, but at the same time I really couldn’t give 2 shits. When I’m playing comp I’m not focusing on the way a body falls.

  6. From the very beginning of cs2 until now I have never liked the bass heavy kill sounds and I am so glad someone brings it up finally..

  7. everything about the csgo is better, except the textures

I think I might prefer something in between these two.

  9. Obviously the momentum is nice in csgo but i dont think its a massive deal tbh

  10. It is very obviously a decision, not an oversight, made to make kills feel more satisfying and impactful. They have probably done a bunch of testing and concluded that people in general prefer ragdolls ignoring velocity, which makes sense to me especially when you take into account that ragdolls are delayed by ping in the first place.

Probably also helps reduce ragdoll desync.

Cs2 is serviceable but the fact that they kept their momentum feels a lot more satisfying to me personally

Cs2 > csgo in almost every aspect but yall want to hold onto them rose tinted glasses. It’s like everyone forgot all the issues csgo had the second 2 came out

except smokes, i would prefer csgo over cs2 in all aspects

As a player that played a lot of CS 1.3-1.6 and some CS GO, something feels very wrong with the hitboxes/registry and movement. I am hoping it is my internet for the sake of newer CS players. Feels terrible

What i hate the most is the drum sound when you kill.

  16. I admittedly never noticed this, but now that I see it, CSGO for sure

Csgo graphics are less tiring to the eyes, looks so clean compared to CS2

  18. They’re trying to “valorantify” the game. Where there are zero rag dolls and bodies just drop to the floor statically. They’re turning the game into esports slop with zero soul and cool details. Remove all the fun physics interactions.

  19. I prefer the cs2 rag dolls, has a more immediate sit down vibe from the headshot

Lmao it’s like our bullets have insane weight to them? What is this. Cs go was better

  22. I know OP already narrowed it down but it’s still worth to give a shoutout to 1.6. Those looked just majestic.
