When you love to hate it, but mostly just love it

I saw a downvote review once that said “what are doing reading bad reviews for? This game is awesome go buy it!!”
And it pissed me off, you love the game but you purposely gave it a prank bad review just to say it’s a good game because you know people look at bad reviews first prior to good reviews.

True. I’m mostly interested in critique to get an idea why people who didn’t liked the game didn’t liked it. Followed by most popular comments, to get a general idea about the game.
It doesn’t mean I’m looking for excuses to not buy a game, I’m weighting if it’s my kind of game.  Many comments critique things that are irrelevant to me, so that’s a good sign.

I prefer reviews like that, as long as they are serious.

It’s either an addiction and they realized, in which case it’s nice to see someone healing, or they made the game entertaining despite the many flaws, in which case it’s worth considering if it would turn into a positive for me.

I have thousands of hours in Skyrim, but I wouldn’t recommend the game if I ever did reviews, the vanilla experience is pathetic and mods are what carry the game to success.

I have played 1400 hours and have now become bored with it, so cannot recommend it!

mfw: “you haven’t played the game enough, how can you say it’s bad, reeeeeeeee”

also mfw: “you have 1400 hours, how can you say the game is bad, reeeeeeee”

  6. Most of them are jokes about the lack of seggs in the game tbh

    Will be honest.

I never checking the bad reviews on Steam.

I do check them on some marketplaces or reviews on the real places.

So this is just going to be posted weekly now

  9. ZombieNek0

Bad reviews are valid thing to check first.

  10. Sacredfice

This kind of review is just so biased.

Dude this was posted just yesterday, if you wanna repost at least wait a week

Lol, that’s me. I gave a lot of bad reviews even playing games for hundreds of hours. But there was always a reason: most of the times the game was enjoyable with mods, but I wouldn’t suggest it without them, the way it’s intended to be. O I simply wanted to complete the achievements even if I didn’t like it that much.

Either way, I usually trust more those bad reviews after so much time spent, because I believe they really know the game and I value their opinion more. Also, they usually always give good reasons why they don’t like it, while the good reviews are often only “good game”.

DMC5, overwhelmingly positive, meanwhile me, not recommending it 🤷‍♂️

  15. Tone_Bone_123

Aaand they have 500+ hours on it…

  16. CanaryKey9653

    Fun fact……That is Edward Norton.

  17. sendnukes_

Then there are the negative reviews that are like 1200h played and the guy is just ranting about how they ruined the game and he’s never gonna play again (he has an extra 600h post review)

Just saw it happen with the Path of Exile 2 community, PoE1 veterans went insane when GGG went a bit too hard on the nerfs and reviewed bombed what was a very playable game

  18. Archipocalypse

Yay more recycling the same meme over and over again, damn it stop it.

  19. thereiam420

Wonder if that is my Halo infinite review. I think that’s like exactly my hours played. Fucking hate the game but I play it for a couple hours everyday. I don’t know why, send help.

  20. WhyAreOldPeopleEvil

The day CS2 removed Dust 2 lobbies, the downvote was me.

  21. jonnysgames

If you’ve got 1300 hours out of a game, I can only see it as insulting to go to its store page and choose a red thumbsdown for your review. It’s fine to critique it, but thumbs downing really isn’t necessary except for some really heinous reason. Im not going to care if someone putting 1k+ hours in a game doesnt find it fun anymore.

Dave the Diver. Fantastic game… operating with FOMO practices for its content adding DLCs. Missed purchasing the DLC when it was available? Sorry, you can’t play that content anytime in the future!
