To preface this, I have approx. 1k hours in Cyberpunk, bought it on release, have played through about 15+ times, including 4/5 times through PL.
Previously was running on a 2060 and Ryzen 5 3600, and despite struggling to get above 50fps on pretty low settings, Cyberpunk has been and always will be my favourite game of all time. Driving too fast from one side of the map to the other would cause things to not even load in, crowd, cars, sometimes even the road itself…it was a struggle but I loved it anyway.
I have recently upgraded to a 5070ti and 7600x3d, and have started a new playthrough running the game on Nvidia's "Overdrive" settings. I am still in shock.
The character movements, the detailing on their skin & faces, the lighting effects, the crowd density consistency, I could go on and on…the city actually feels alive, and shit does it look good.
I keep finding myself getting distracted by the reflections in random puddles on the ground and noticing things in the environment I never would have noticed before.
I have never felt more immersed in a game and this has just heightened the experience even further.
I will never get to re-live playing through this masterpiece for the first time again, but this is probably the closest I'll ever get to that feeling…

Path tracing is the bees knees, get ready to feel just a little bit disappointed with the lighting in all other games that don’t use it…not that they are bad…but the naturalism is unsurpassed. PS
I’m kinda same situation myself, played through the game a handful of times on a subpar pc and just now upgraded to pretty strong (budget) pc.
So right now i’m kinda excited waiting for when whatever this next update they got planned is released so i can check the game out again with settings cranked up
I played it at release on a 2080 super. Now on a 4080 super, I understand exactly what you are saying!
Yeah… Like it’s definitely my favorite game for both action and story, but jfc the graphics and way the game plays with light are so beautiful 😂 On my laptop (and since the new dlss model), I have just the bare minimum to be able to run the game with path tracing at a performance level that is comfortable for me to play, and it is incredible. Sometimes I just get distracted by how beautiful things look in a more naturalistic way. Not every game has to or even should do things that way, but damn it looks great in Cyberpunk!
I’d say besides the visual masterpiece that Cyberpunk is, the other reason is the sheer amount of time spent on the tiniest details.
I’m playing for the very first time, and I only have a 2070. While I’m not running completely maxed, I still find it absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, I can’t use path tracing, but at least I am using raytraced shadows and lighting (and DLSS balanced for a playable framerate). Still, it looks better than most other games I’ve played. I can only imagine how amazing it is on more modern hardware.
Didn’t they start developing the game after blood and wine in 2016 ? So they took 4-5 years to make the game . Still looks gorgeous
If you want to crank it up a little more you can turn on the two psycho settings which is just a notch up from Overdrive as well.
I only upgrade earlier this year to 4060 so I can only run 1080PT medium @50fps but I would never go back to even RT just because the game world looks so good with PT. And I want to upgrade again just because how good Cyberpunk2077 looks and play. I would upgrade to 5070 again later this year just to replay again.
The game was in development for 4 years.
So I’m going to say I tried to get into it 2-3 times before but it never clicked, I didn’t get into the combat, it felt sluggish, I had fps drops (my rig was meh), driving wasn’t enjoyable..
Now I just got a new PC, 5080 and 7800x3d and gave it a reinstall…
It has finally clicked years later, I get the love for it, combat now feels insane as I dash and slow people before slicing them into ribbons, driving feels infinitely better and the world just looks stunning.
Only 10 hours into this run, and I’m completely hooked!
