I get the 8gb gpu hate but it is kinda wrong to believe that no one will buy the new 8gb gpus.

The problem is that the price isn’t worth it. Maybe if it was like $100-$200 for a new 8gb.

But it is the cheapest option, and will get games running, also most of them will be on pre-built.

  2. GTADreVIPReplayer

People seem to forget that those who buy 8gb cards are mostly interested in esports games.

  3. Running_Oakley

Rx570 owners have got to know what fine wine means now when a brand new Nvidia card launches with 8GB.

  4. Makoto_Kurume

Of course they will, because that’s what’s available within their limited budget, especially for uninformed people. But the argument is that 8GB on a $300 new card in 2025 is ridiculous. For $300, I think it should be at least 12GB

  5. MtnNerd

I think the issue is they should all have more vram and cost the same

Exactly $50 difference fark me that’s over $200 difference in my country, luckily i have the income to afford that but shit man i know not as many people in my country will be able to stomach that and that’s not even counting that is comes upcharged from the “msrp”. What’s suppose to be $600 usd msrp comes into my country at $800usd, so then that price difference of $200 usd in my country is now $1000 difference in my currency.

    *checks steam survey*

No, no it’s correct that very few people are forking out for it.

  8. Indeed. Majority of people either buy what the prebuilt offer them or more often, what they can afford/willing to pay the most

In my country as of a month ago. The price of the 4060 went from 300$ new to 375$. A 4060 with 8gb. Let’s face the facts. Not many people care about pc hardware. The less you know the better. ( definitely not a reference to tame impala) but seriously. It’s either kids who barely made their poor parents shell out some cash for a pc. They don’t care what the fuck is vram. “ can it run Fortnite ? GTA five M “ the answer is yes. THEN SHUTUP AND TAKE MY MONEY. Is at least 60% of world wide. (other than EU and North America) most pc users in other counties with budget and tight budget really just don’t research or perhaps care or afford something higher. The 4060 was top, 5060 will also be the same.

And for those who say buy used. Im sorry. I am sorry that you have not a single clue that used anything outside of a good country means no warranty. It means no RMA. Unless bought new.

im from latam, by a stroke of good luck i was able to build a somewhat “high end” pc few months ago including a 9070xt and a 9600x, here the market is ridiculous not much people can afford a pc over the mark of 1000usd and that includes the whole setup most of the time, add to that the sony consoles are engrained in the collective culture as the “go to” machines for playing games so pc gaming is not only a niche hobby but also a really hard to justify one in a place where salaries are 700usd on average (per household)

  11. Master_of_Ravioli

You say that like those markets would buy a 400 dollar 8 gb 5060 and not used 3060s or cheap AliExpress rx580s lmao.

  12. Skysr70

don’t forget uninformed and nonenthusiast buyers

To put it into perspective for you who live in the 1st world bubble:

Brazil is a big market for the 8GB GPUs segment. And the reason is just… That’s what most Brazilians can afford.

    For example, checking today’s prices…

A new RTX 5060 costs one and a half months of minimum wage. The 5090 starts at a year of minimum wage. I’m talking **literally** here. It’s literally 100% of all the money the minimum wage worker makes in a year. Of course a lot of people make more than that, but even considering the average wage instead of the minimum, the 5060 costs about 70% of the average montly wage, while the 5090 costs 5 and a half months.

Most people simply won’t be able to buy a xx60 TI or any better Nvidia card. A xx70 is already considered premium, and owning a xx80 or xx90 means you’re just rich.

  14. -Chungus_khan

Yep that true. im waiting rtx 5050 right now, im need nvidia for specific purpose. but i will wait till they decrease the price. 250 dollar for entry level gpu is ridiculous

I think only me who excited with rtx 5050 lol

  15. BlazinAzn38

They’re 100% going into the $1200 Fortnite machines and they’ll sell them by the truckload via Walmart and Costco

  16. Brandoe

Depends a lot on what resolution you’re running, whether you care about 100+ fps, and of course, your financial situation. I bought one for all the above reasons.

  17. Just_Ad9102

Malaysian here, most people here still don’t buy newer 8GB cards. Don’t know about other countries though.

  18. Blu3Jell0P0wd3r

I’m from Brasil, Intel is the only one with 10 or 12GB GPUs in the 1800-1900 BRL range (B570 and B580).

AMD cheapest >8GB GPU is the RX7600 XT. That GPU cost 2x the amount I paid for my R$1350 RX 6600. The 9060 16GB is 2.4x more money.

Nvidia cheapest >8GB GPU is the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. 3x the amount i paid for my GPU. Four fking grand, that’s more than what my entire PC costs.

If i hadn’t bought a GPU already, I would probably have bought the ARC B580.

  19. billyfudger69

It’s not that no one should buy them, rather it’s that the price is too high. The cards are perfectly fine for esports to middle of the road graphics but they are not priced accordingly. (A low end card should have low end card pricing.)

  20. Relative_Anybody_541

Here in Peru, south america prices are so damn bad, i worked alot to get 700 usd to get smth decent in gaming laptop and surpirse 4060 laptops are like 1500 usd 1100 usd for a 6 gigs 4050 why

  21. daxtonanderson

There are hundreds of thousands of RX 470/480/570/580 8GB cards to be bought at a fraction of the price. As long as the used market has 8GB cards at a better deal, new 8gb cards are DOA

  22. One-Director-4077

yeah im looking to buy rtx 3070 8gb now cuz the used rx 6700xt is hard to find here

  23. MakimaGOAT

also uninformed gamers buying prebuilts/laptops are also gonna be buying them up like hotcakes

  24. It’s not that no one will buy, no one should buy 8gb gpus.

  25. centuryt91

Jokes on you my wallet doesn’t support a more than 8gb gpu. Look at my setup, i cant even run my gpu or ssd at pcie gen 4 and expect me to get at least a 16gb gpu? The only reason i have a 3070 is because i got a deal for like 300$ on it otherwise i had to buy a 3050 for 250$ before this miracle happened

  26. And computer cafes and businesses and schools

  27. Kebab-Exchange-3676

I bought 2 used GTX 1060. Since then, im rockin’ in 1080 all high setting especially Tekken 8.

  28. CkLance

They’re for all the cookie cutter Walmart, Sam’s, & Best Buy pre-builts presented to the plethora of uninformed PC buyers.

  29. aberroco

Price sensitive markets would be better buying old used mid-high range GPUs – those are much better price/value.

  30. The_gender_bender_69

Okay then only sell them there, instead of letting them rot here.
