Papoutsis replaces the previous leadership team—Ted Gill, Charlie Cleveland, and Max McGuire—effective immediately. While KRAFTON sought to keep the Unknown Worlds' co-founders and original creators of the Subnautica series involved in the game's development, the company wishes them well on their next endeavors. Importantly, KRAFTON is confident that Papoutsis, with decades of experience behind the planning, development, and production of some of the highest-rated game franchises, will bring renewed energy and momentum to delivering the long-anticipated Subnautica 2 experience to fans.

My gut tells me something went south behind the scenes. Not a good sign for subnautica 2

The dev vlogs for Subnautica 2 are so vague, almost like they don’t want you to play the game, ever.

Between this and Callisto, I’m starting to get a little worried about them having Hi-Fi Rush…

Fuck man, Subnautica is one of my all time favorites, I’ve been looking forward to the sequel for a while. They really gonna fuck it up aren’t they?

That is not encouraging. But it’s also hard to know how to feel without knowing more. Is the new leadership or old more likely to follow in the footsteps of Below Zero?

  5. Charlie and Max were the beating heart of unknown worlds. I’m really sad to hear them leave.

JFC I hope there was a good non-greedy reason for that, if CrappedOn ruins SN2 I will be *severely* unhappy. “Effective immediately” is not a good sign, and it sounds like the UWE team didn’t find out until after the press release (aside from the people in question of course) and were not informed ahead of time. Sketchy AF, hopefully Obraxis and friends stay intact and can let us know more.

Searched the guy and only worked on dead space 2 and 3 (2 was good but 3 killed the franchise), and then worked on the callisto protocol………….

Something definetly went on behind the scenes and this change doesn’t look good at all. Sad

Not necessarily a good or bad thing.

Hopefully, Subnautica 2 is released as a worthy successor to the first game, but if not, then I have plenty of other games to play.
