I don’t understand everyone’s obsession with that scene.

If im watching edgerunners with someone who hasn’t seen it (especially if they are new to anime) It’s the scene i need to explain because most of the time they are just shocked. Personally for me its my least favorite seen in the show.

It’s the barrier that keeps me from showing it to a lot people of more normal people i know. The worst part honestly is that the scene itself is unimportant to the actual plot. All you learn is she is Pilars’ Younger sister. But they are in a scene together before this so it could have easily been said there. It actually detracts from the share-potential of the show (amongst people besides reddit-gooners) and for no reason other then to have the fan service. Look, I can accept fan service in a Trigger anime, but it was a very deliberate choice to make her clearly a child; if she was Davids age nothing would have even changed and it would be way less weird -it probably would have made more sense because then there wouldn’t be a 1.5 decade age gap between her and her brother.

But, trigger really pushed the thirst trapping so i cant blame people for following the example and giving us disturbing loli-softcore fanart pawned off as something besides gooner bait on a very regular basis -forever probably. You literally cant mention edgerunners to anyone without it getting brought up either. If you talk about this show anywhere in public besides like a con, people who know start giving you side eye to see if you will start being thirsty.

But for me personally the worst part is, Rebecca being Loli fan-serviced isn’t the what makes me really feel repulsed (completely, its part of it), its how everyone thinks its alright because they’ve seen porn of it before and are desensitized to it. That being said; Someone 100% is gonna pop forth to try and argue that being sexually attracted to children is ok, and that they don’t need therapy.

Ted talk over. gimme your gooner downvotes. now i have no interest in actually talking to anyone defending this so i just muted the notifications on the post preemptively, save you guys some typing and protect myself from psychic damage comments. I just was doing a community service self-awareness test, you exist and other people can perceive ya’lls thirst-posting over children.

    Its fucking repulsive.

Was just thinking about those. Are they tattoos in the traditional sense or is it printed patterns/chromatophores in artificial skin?

Does Rebecca have any real skin or is it all RealSkinn™

I’m not responding to that dude in this thread who clearly has personal issues to work out and some introspection to go through but what I personally find cool about this scene is that David is still a very new member of the crew and thus Rebecca doesn’t trust him yet. So a yet to be trusted dude comes to her door unexpectedly and she sticks iron in his face, ready for shenanigans in case shenanigans are about to ensue.

It tells you about her as a character. It’s a mechanic writers use to *show* you something rather than *tell* you, and if people would read more they’d understand that.

But it’s far easier to just pile into the bandwagon of short woman erasure by crying “loli” and virtue signaling and soapboxing all day and night about that particular character.

Also, for the sake of argument, devil’s advocate and all that, let’s say Rebecca the character intentionally got modified to fit the loli aesthetic. Some women in such a setting would do just that. In the early 2000s there was a whole ass fashion movement and offshoot of the goth subculture called *gothic lolita* and in any major city there’d be a store dedicated to this subculture selling striped this poofy lace that etc. My girlfriend in 2001 was one so I know. So it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Rebecca as a character *chooses* that subculture. Except she doesn’t because she very obviously is a rough and tumble vulgar murder goblin which makes a lolita *not*.

Oh god now I’m rambling. Guys. It’s been a year. Just let a character be and stop virtue signaling and soapboxing. Let the dead horse be and go touch grass.

Proof you don’t need cyberpsychosis to be crazy in night city.. Would have loved to team up with her in the actual game..

She’s kinda hot. I guess. But it’d be nice if they could make her look even younger and more child like.
