hi guys! I just got this CoolerMaster cosmos (with a motherboard/CPU/ram combo as well) for free, and I was planning on putting my secondary PC in it, but I don't know what to do with the system already inside of it. I don't have a spare psu unfortunately but I do have a bunch of spare cases, so what should I do with it? also I'm not picking it up until later today so if anyone knows what model the motherboard is I would appreciate the information.

Take it apart and use it to make a pc in some random object like a drawer or a mini fridge

time for a sleeper build
Homelab/server.
You could install a large hardrive and host a jellyfin/plex server with all the movies and shows you like. Cut out streaming services. Maybe even run your own Minecraft server for you and the homies if that’s something you’re into.
I had that case. It was a beauty for its era. Built like a fucking tank, and surprisingly terrible at both airflow and noise suppression and hard to do even rhe minimal cable routing of the time.
But I do think of it fondly.

I still have my cosmos that I bought new. It holds my media server PC, has tons of room for hard drives
Fish tank
Pull out the top I/O panel and custom a new one that doesn’t look as cheesy. Bonus points for an LED ring around the new power button.
Black out the Cosmos top front label since it looks cheap. Better yet, cover all of that glossy piano black with laptop skin type material with a cooler look).
Mask the rest of the case (in fact, make this step 1 and do the other two after and paint over that silver with another color; recommend sanding gently then airbrushing, or even powder coating.
When all of the above is done, build something cool.
Man I miss mine. Added fans in weird spots and had a WD Raptor that vibrated so hard the entire case sounded like it was growling.
Oh man I used to have that same case, it was a great one.

That PC is probably long time outdated, but you can use the case.
Gen 1 cosmos… classic. I used to love that case.

Oh man that brings back memories, that was the case I had for my 2nd build ever. Thing was a ****ing TANK. Have fun!

An emulation system. Stick to systems from before the 3D era (NES, SNES, Genesis, etc), and you’ll have hundred of great games to play on it!

Damn, I really wanted one of those back in the day, it seems to be in really good shape considering its age. Give it a respectable function, maybe a media server… It’s a relic of its time, it deserves to be honored.
