might be some dead pixels in the shape of a moth, you might need a new monitor

Open Terminal, then type sudo apt-get remove moth

This is why you lock your pc when you leave your desk. Who knows what kind of bugs might crawl in there.

This is common bug on windows desktop. It goes away by itself after a while.

I had this issue. I had to shut off the monitor for a few minutes. Turned it back on and the moth was gone. The bug showed up again later but you just repeat as needed.

Try Linux next time. Moths often come in thru open Windows.

You’re selecting on a different layer. Sadly I forgot what the keyboard shortcut to shift your cursor to a different layer is since I haven’t had this problem in decades, but in Windows 7, it used to be `Win+Tab`.
