Just completed Death Stranding 1 you either love it or hate it, but personally is one of the most beautiful, unique and innovative games I’ve played in my entire life, an unforgettable journey

I agree but why post the literal end shot without a spoiler tag?

yeah, but too much walking
Multivitamin_Scam
I appreciate what it is and that it exists but I did not enjoy it.
Gwoardinn
I picked it up super cheap last week, just up to chapter 3, dont know why I put it off for so long. Very original, weird ass story, compelling visuals, and unique gameplay.

I still can’t tell if I liked this game or not. It’s so fucking weird it kept me playing but I can’t really say I did or didn’t enjoy it. Just an anomaly.
Pacoeltaco
Crazy ass game and hideo had a little too much freedom to go wacky places. But it was beautiful and weird in a good way.
I believe that ds2 has improved on the formula and toned down some of the unchecked idiosyncrasies just slightly. Overall, it’s a great game and i recommend it

I remember thinking the game was about to end and then it went on for like another 15hrs.

The 30 minutes you spend just getting talked at on the beach is the only lame part of the game. I was really thinking Kojima learned his lessons from all those years of MGS and didn’t get too egregious with the verbose explanations… And then there it is. Aside from that though, legitimately a really fucking good game, it’s a new favorite and probably a new comfort game for me. I’ll put on a podcast and just do deliveries for fun. And the story hit me harder than Expedition 33. I can’t believe I didn’t see it get praised as much as Expedition 33 for at least the story alone when it came out.
Leepysworld
I appreciate it and I get the appeal but it wasn’t for me, and that’s not to say I didn’t try, I tried once back during the original launch, then again when it came to PC, both times I fell off after about 4-5 hours.
That being said I’m not a big crafting/survival guy, so maybe it was never gonna full mesh with me.

Started playing it last week and am really liking it so far. It’s definitely a different type of game. Not at all what I was expecting.
Got it for $15 on Steam. So I couldn’t pass it up. If I end up finishing it, I’ll have to check out the new one on my PS5.

Very original gameplay. It becomes weirdly satisfying to traverse the world and build machines to help you conquer the environment. The writing is seriously awful though, there’s so much exposition that ultimately explains nothing, everybody’s names are stupid (Die-hardman is called that because he says “old habits die hard” at one point in the game… cringe) and people constantly explain things to Sam that he should already know. Kojima is a hack and needs to be surrounded by people who are willing to tell him when his ideas are stupid. It’s no coincidence the games he had the most creative control over are the worst written

I didn’t enjoy UPS Simulator.

I’ll always appreciate artistic expression, creativity and risks in any medium – but in the video game medium, every game needs to deliver on one core aspect: fun.
As cool as Death Stranding is, good god does it suck at being an actual game.
Again, I appreciate it for what it is, but it’s just such a snore – and I’m not the kind of guy that needs constant stimulation and high octane action to be entertained. Telltale games, Life is Strange and Detroit are some of my favorite games of all time – but they are held so well together by the strength of their narratives and how they uniquely operate the narrative as a game.
Death Stranding is just so. Unbelievably. Boring.
I feel like it would’ve worked better as a movie rather than a game. The pacing would flow better.

Got the game for $10 from some dude on fb like a month of it coming out and got it again for $10 on ps5 at Best Buy when they have their 10 day deals and still have yet to get past the first few hours and this is like one of the one games I actually do wanna play but I just don’t have the time to sit and play it
Jazzlike-Lunch5390
Great concept, but fell off heavily near the end.
I got to the end but never finished it.
theangryfurlong
For me, the minute-to-minute gameplay is the most important thing. I read and watched a lot of reviews and decided to give it a pass because it didn’t look like the kind of gameplay I would enjoy.
D3vilK4i
There’s still about two more hours of gameplay. Don’t turn it off hahaha

Kojima’s writing was incredible to a 16 year old me playing the original mgs.
It’s kind of amazing that his level hasn’t changed at all.
He was a visionary in terms of gameplay but his writing has always been some of the worst in gaming.
dramatic_walrus
Don’t think you finished it, still more to go😉

Same, I finished it last Friday and honestly just loved it. I originally thought it wasn’t for me, mostly because of everything people said online about the walking simulator.
I do believe it’s not for everybody, but man did I love it. I’m already playing DS2 and so far also amazing.
halfacalf
Loved it, too, though I did take a little while to get into it. Can’t wait to start playing the second one next week.
Birdman-allen
Throwing the word innovative a bit too liberally
MagniPlays
Eh it’s fine. It over stays its welcome and doesn’t even deliver a coherent message unless you go out of your way to figure it out.
It’s only dick rode so hard cause Kojima can do no wrong in the “gaming” scene. Just like Tarantino to the movie scene.
Definitely a cool experience for 5-10 hours but then it’s just kinda…not stopping lmao
