Starting July 2nd the final push for Stop Killing Games will begin. This will be a concentrated effort on social media to get the movement trending. If it reaches its 1 million signature goal it will legally be required to look into the legality of destroying videogames. There is only 1 more month to go and it's 63% to reaching that 1 million.

Is this just for single player games? I’m just not sure that it makes sense for a company to have to indefinity run servers for every game they release forever, as sad as it can be for some people when it’s done.

Edit: I misread the first sentence and see I’ve once again offended reddit by asking for clarity about a cause it want me to support. I’ll be sure to see myself out rather than learn about it/support it and cause anyone any further inconveniences. Well done lol.

This is why i love indie games. Indie Devs don’t do that shit

  3. oh look a other Reddit blackout that will do nothing

  4. I would have signed this long ago, but I’m not in the EU…

“It will legally be required to look into the legality” Huh, what? Who. Thats some sentence.

I’ve never once had this problem in the 15+ years I’ve been gaming, but I’ll lend a hand.

  7. Games didn’t have servers back then. Different circumstances require different expectations.

Requiring you to use eID with an unknown entity or provide your social security number. No thank you.

This will never work. It will stop developers from developing certain games and what happens when licensing in a game runs out like with games like Jump Force?

  10. I thought that the idea was that we forced publishers to advertise and commit to end-of-life plans?
Not requiring all games to be theoretically playable forever. Requiring publishers to make all of their game-related server tech available is not feasible in many instances. When their code base includes proprietary 3rd party libraries for example.
