Literally almost his entire life and truly who knows they honestly could have found him as a kid. And that’s my theory. They came up with an experiment/idea to take a kid and mold him into the perfect corpo puppet from a young age.
I do think it some how involves the black wall or AI as well. Mr Blue Eyes who I think is 100% working for Night Corp is very interested in AI as we saw in Phantom Liberty.

Makes me curious on if he knew at one point but forgot.
If you let him continue to be manipulated he tightens the screws on crops and puts more power in the hands of state machinery rather than corps and he does the opposite if you tell him the truth.
He deserves the truth but the question is should he get it? His whole political campaign is based on lies he in reality is a corpo puppet but after he wins and is still being manipulated he goes against them but if he’s not manipulated he shows his true colors and helps copros going against everything he campaigned for. Not to mention if you tell him the truth he destroys his life (arguably that is his choice to make so I don’t really care what he decides to do with the information if I tell him the truth).
If you don’t tell him the truth, we have a happy manipulated fool on our hands who actually follows through with his campaign promises.
Absolutely, him and Elizabeth has been head hunted from a young age to assume their roles. Someone is playing the loooong game.
Whatever/Whomever is running Night Corp/SSI mind controlling Artificial Intelligence are intentionally installing key players within the higher echelons of power within Night City , with one caveat- these individuals are 100% INDEPENDENT of any Corporate influence. Night City born n bred. No Arasaka, Militech, Kang Tao etc will have favors owed, or politicians in their pockets. The keys to NC is slowly being removed by these sleeper agents.
As in they are subtlety consuming power from the Corporations, in a city that has been DOMINATED /ran by corporations since it’s inception in the mid-1990s every since NCs founder Richard Night mysteriously died (shortly after the blood money he used from the Corps to fund his city for his idealized utopia, got whacked, and been Corpo playground every since).
Remember, Johnny said their where talks of Rogue AIs controlling people back in his day, and Jefferson Peralez was born around 10 years after the DataKrash. Elizabeth shortly after. Don’t forget what Maximum nMike said about that mysterious AV crash, and mutant humans that happened in Heywood in the mid-2020s ….. Yeah that was pretty clear from the start when you started investigating the shooting in their apartment. They were likely chosen due to their psych profiles and backgrounds just to become nice popular puppets.
I also believe Night Corp was behind Rhynes assassination. The high tech equipment on Horvath, the spiked brain dance after. And Rhyne was winning before his death, night Corp positioning Holt as Jefferson’s opponent would help secure his victory.
Yup. That’s why I never bothered to actually tell him the truth. This is a game V is in no way shape or form prepared to handle.
I have a theory that perhaps Richard Night is behind Night Corp and the Peralez’s. Cloning exists in Cyberpunk but for the clone to function, they must have an AI inside them to function. Perhaps Night Corp mastered the soul killer thing way back Arasaka and saved Night from death and he’s been controlling things behind the shadows. Maybe even needed Songbird too.
