I remember at the very beginning of the Summer before my first year of college a little more than a decade ago not caring much about “Space” or “Sci-Fi” but then something magical happened

I bought Mass Effect 1 and Crackdown on a whim one night at I think it was Target…probably the best 2 game purchase of all time. Why publishers refuse to make sci-fi games I will never know

Love the 2nd , like the 1st for the universe , hated the 3rd.

I’ll never deny any of the criticisms against the series but I will always love Mass Effect.

Despite all the criticisms, fair or not, 3 is my favorite and I still cry

I have never and will never probably care about a group a fictional characters they way I did this crew. Maybe it was because I played them when I was 19-21 that it hit so hard but I remember when three came out and the ending being so controversial they had to retcon it.

I loved this series.
Unfortunately, I can’t remember if it was 3 or Andromeda that had such poor writing, a high school team could’ve written it better. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the team was not a serious team, like the previous. I thought if I could kill everyone around me, and fly this ship, I would.
It was a sad way to end such a beloved series.

Definitely miss the era where you could expect to complete a trilogy of new games before the end of a decade.

Mass Effect 2 is without a doubt one of the greatest games ever made. It’s just incredible.

All 3 are great games, but its kinda weird how much my ranking changed after the Legendary Edition dropped 3 years ago.
After finishing all 3 back to back ME3 funnily enough was my favorite of the 3. I only played it once at launch in 2012 and pretty much hated it for the ending. So playing the game for the first time with all the goated DLC content and extended cut was one hell of a experience.
ME2 my absolute favorite of the series became my least favorite, since it added basically nothing to the story, the game felt like a 20-30 hour side quest. And saying that feels weird, since I finished that game like 10 times, but I never played them so close to each other.
ME1 ranking didnt change at all, it was great back then, it was great when the LE dropped.
Overall the trilogy is a masterpiece.

Tangentially related – I am a big fan of Mass Effect. I also just watched Star Trek TNG for the first time. If you like ME but haven’t watched TNG, I’d recommend it

This was the best trilogy of its generation. Better than Halo and Uncharted. The controversy of the finale proves how beloved ME is.
I consumed all ME media and Paul Grayson and Mordin are its best characters.
