doesnt look like u clean installed. needed to select remove everything. in process.

  3. USSHammond

If you used the built-in reset, that’s not clean. There is only 1 way to do a proper reset, that’s a clean install

  4. Losttrav

If I’m not mistaken that’s what happens if you are signed into OneDrive it will try to restore your previous desktop.

  5. Machine_Galaxy

Looks like One Drive synced the shortcut and when you logged back in with your MS account it restored the file. Just delete it, nothing to worry about.

  6. ilostmypaperplate

Definitely a one drive thing. restoring old shortcuts

  7. No_Interaction_4925

Onedrive saved your desktop to the cloud. Its nothing but a shortcut that was downloaded. I hate that this is by default too

Download Rufus, grab a usb drive, make install media and run it. Make sure to delete all the partitions on your target drive to start from scratch.

If you used the deafult Re-Install button, it just resets a few settings. For the absolute clean up, type this to Powershell Command:

    “`
    Remove-Item -Path C: -Recurse -Force
    “`
    then

    “`
    diskpart
    select disk 0
    clean
    “`

This will do a clean and safe uninstall of your Windows

Hey, free game! What’s not to like?

  11. Posiris610

Its because you signed (or were probably auto signed) into OneDrive. Any files that were synced to it from Desktop, Documents, Pictures, and Videos will show up on your computer again.

  12. Busy_Experience_5563

One drive doing what one drive does making copies of everything twice or more

    keep it
    plants vs zombies for life

You can configure OneDrive to not include the desktop and documents folders, and instead only the OneDrive folder itself, if you prefer.

This is why I remove one drive on all windows installs

  16. DethZire

That’s just onedrive being stupid and restoring shortcuts to crap you may not have installed.

  17. AppleWithGravy

Some laptops comes prepackaged with plants vs zombies

  18. Lazer_beak

I hate one onedrive with a passion. Haven’t used it since 2021, when it uploaded a bunch of personal photos without my knowledge.

  21. OtherwiseHeart9203

    It’s a OneDrive shortcut zombie.
    Had to be said 💀

  22. ThatGothGuyUK

Just delete it, it’s just a shortcut, you signed in with a Microsoft account and it synced/backed up the desktop, documents and photos to the same account you signed in to.

  23. To remove one drive entirely ; use a reputable uninstaller like revo uninstaller. Which I use personally to remove all of windows complimentary bloatware. one drive included.

  24. Evgeniybkk

It’s on another drive. Use Dr.Web Cure it.

  25. earthwarder

Windows is so shit now. And the update to make it so u can’t move the Taskbar? Absolutelt atrocious. I’m switching to Linux.

  26. milesahead2052

Hated onedrive myself. Had to go into registry editor to get my actual desktop, documents, and pictures folder back before disabling onedrive altogether. Onedrive made a mess of my folders and separated everything smh
