I'm in awe of this game. The character design, environment, story, combat, I can go on and on. Both GOW and GOW:R are top tier!

What. A. Snorefest. I’ve never been less invested in an AAA game than the newer God of War games

I really need to give it another go because it looks awesome. I bought it years ago and got to the first boss but it was hard enough that I gave up after a few dozen tries.

Games got noticeably harder after I turned 35 or so.

I really enjoyed most of this game but the Atreus sections really slowed it down for me.

Dropped it coz of the Atreus sections. God I hate those. I need to play it back someday.

I found the first one to be very lackluster after all the hype it had and won the GOTY award in 2018. Found the story to be subpar with a generic combat system. Didn’t really feel like it didn’t anything special or above and beyond. Characters were well done but that’s about it. Never picked up Ragnarok but I’ve heard that game is better so maybe I will when it’s on sale on steam

Somehow it managed to outdo the first game which I already thought was pretty exceptional.

I just got it today too, I was on it for 6 hours lol, and im too poor to afford it so ***P I R A C Y***

Deity of Conflict? The free-to-play mobile game?

    (I kid, I kid.)

The new Norse mythology setting was excellent, but I did not really care for the open world setup, as I felt no motivation to do any side quest. I also enjoyed the gameplay better in the Greek ones, especially camera wise.

I wish I could get into the newer GoW games. It just feels so boring to play, and Kratos feels so weak, even on easy difficulty. There is no reason that the grunts should take more than a hit or two to kill.

I saw a review of someone who said that they would’ve enjoyed the newer games better as a movie, and i completely agree with that.

  11. Two of the best single-player story games I’ve ever seen. Exactly the right amount of open versus rails, of progression vs tedium, magic, mystery, tension, etc.

God of War isn’t just a game, it’s a masterpiece. The story, the gameplay, and the bond between Kratos and Atreus are on another level. Every fight feels epic and every scene is like a movie. Absolute banger

Name of game please? Clearly some variant of Pokémon.

  14. CaptainSmeg

To much Atreus sections and not enough Kratos/Asgardian shenanigans for me. Still a good game but not near the heights of the first game.

  15. Are the boss fights still the super lame “press square now. Press triangle now. Spin joystick” as they were in the old GOW games? Haven’t played them since 1 or 2 and always found that mechanic so boring.

I didn’t play the sequel. Doesn’t Kratos owe her a son or something

  17. I really should give them a second chance! The whole puzzle-battle arena-puzzle-battle arena-story-puzzle-battle arena circle turned me off when it came out

One of the most overrated games of the decade, the Story ist average at best and the combat is so slow clunky and boring at the same time. It only deserved a 7/10 at max and GOW winning GOTY was so undeserved

  19. ffgod_zito

The first one was exponentially better than the second.

What is this game of which you speak so highly? I would perhaps like to try it myself.

  21. russell0014

I feel like I get motion sickness on the PS4 version.

Played the OG trilogy, loved it. Played 2018, liked it. Tried to play Ragnarok, got bored in the first 2 hours.

  23. Some of these comments…. Since when has shitting on the new GoW games been a thing? I mean yeah, no game is perfect and they’re not a once in a lifetime phenomenon.

But they’re both really solid games, with almost no bugs at release, and that don’t have micro transactions.

Isn’t this what we want from devs? Games that work and play well, without bullshit micro transactions? Shouldn’t we be showing support for this so that devs make more good games instead of spewing out more crap like Mindseye or Suicide Squad?

Ah yes, a movie with puzzles for low IQ people and levels in straight lines with some dead end for the impression of secret, truly a masterclass for casuals.
