The rest of my PC works fine, it is just the monitor cord or plug whatever that has a problem

I would just buy a new monitor lol

  2. You need a new monitor

Looks like the entire pin has disintegrated

  3. definitely_unused

Open the monitor and get your free 5090 out.

open the monitor and replace the power jack and the cord, then also try to figure out why this one melted

is there a short somewhere in the monitor?

  6. Mortecha

Well first your cable is toast so toss it in the recycling.

Secondly I’d look at the connector in the monitor and figure out how it happened, more than likely your monitor will be toast too.

  7. DeadlockRiff

Brother, what have you done to that monitor?

Check warranty coverage if you’re looking to recoup some money from the fault.

Your monitor+Cable did their job and burnt out instead of burning down your house.

That being said that aint normal. Looks like there’s some wet corrosion and rust. Do you live in a humid/seaside location?

Get a new monitor… and check your surge protector.

(If you don’t have one, then I figured out what happened)

    Get a new monitor.

Any repairs on a power system inside a monitor will be more that a new monitor

I would look at replacing the socket inside the monitor, but since you are asking here, get a new monitor.

unplug from wall, cut the wall pug off the cord as close as possible to the plug, then put in recycling.

Short or a shitty plug not making good contact with the prong. get a new monitor/plug and be relieved your house didn’t burn down. maybe check the outlet too just incase.

Check the outlet for damage too

So what does the power outlet look like? And I don’t mean the surge protector or PSU.

That’s not melt, that’s corrosion. You can see rust and green. The corrosion caused the leads to thin until they were too thin to pass current without getting hot, then melting. But the cause is liquid, and melting was the result. Looks like water was in the socket when it went in, and possibly something dripping on the monitor then into the socket?

Put the manufacturer on blast in hopes they take care of you for good PR? I dunno. Is it still under warranty? Did you have it plugged into a power strip plugged into a power strip plugged into another power strip or something? Did you not have the connector pushed all the way in? Just asking because these kinds of things usually just don’t happen out of nowhere

Hey! You probably don’t need to get a new monitor like some people are saying. It looks like you are near some humidity or something because I see some rust below that port. Not sure.

I had a port replaced once for 60 bucks. If this is a good monitor then it’s definitely worth fixing it up.

  19. AttentionDePusit

This is a rare occurrence. Replacing the cord might work, but the monitor itself might have some electronics / electrical issues.

    Better get a new monitor.

remove your intel i9 from your monitor
