(I am the messenger please do not shoot me) I just bought this on the steam sale after hearing about it for a bit and while idrc about the nudity censorship to avoid an ao rating I do know that the gore censorship is bull

I’m gonna install a mod to increase the level of nudity and gore. Just a big fat dick covered in guts

  2. HECKington098

Is it an option like in The Outlast Trials or is it a mandatory censorship that you can’t turn off?

  3. Fuck I was only playing Ready or Not for the boobs

  4. Curiedoesthestream

And there goes my excitement for the game! Guess I’ll get the new Elden Ring.

  5. BadDogSaysMeow

Here before the mob comes yelling that censorship is good, and if you against it then you are a psycho/creep when you don’t want your media to be Ministry-Of-Truth-ed.

  6. Azoth_N_Storn

And now I wont be getting this game at all

So tired of the overally unneeded censorship in games because someone somewhere might get offended.

  7. Motorcat33

Tbf i have no idea why they wanted to lean so heavy on the sexual thing in ready or not

  8. I swear to fuck this tiktok censorship is taking over literally everything. I hate it.

Before you even know it guns will be banned and we’ll all be shooting with water guns because China.

If I did, it’d be censored anyway.

You know, back in the pre-ESRB days, we had the far superior RSAC system, that broke a game down by sexuality, violence, and… one of language and drugs, the other one being added later. Each had five levels, from zero (not in this game) to four (pretty much anything goes). Some of the enforcement, especially where sexuality was concerned, was pretty lackluster, but the *idea* of an objective ratings system was phenomenal, and a great alternative to the cowardly MPAA equivalent.

Then Lieberman and Hilary Clinton had to come along and ruin it, but that’s another issue.

It wasn’t so bad when it was just backward nations demanding censorship for their own territories; when it’s whole platforms…

To arms, modders! And legs! And disembodied naked boobs flying through the air, possibly engulfed in flames!

  11. Reading through the post the changes seem minor, and I can understand their reasoning, but it is a little weird considering the overall tone of the game.

For anyone who hasn’t played it, it’s not just a dumb cop simulator, the themes and circumstances of the missions are incredibly dark subject matter that the game does not shy away from. I don’t think these changes dilute this *that* much, but still a bit odd considering the overall tone the devs clearly wanted.

ESRB needs to disappear. It should be up to the the parent, doing the parent’s job to decide whether or not the game is right for little Billy. Sure, a game can still be behind an age restriction, but NOTHING should be censored just to hit a certain rating.

  13. Why wouldn’t they just make a good game instead of worrying about any of that?

  14. ilove60sstuff

So the game literally based on the premise of “this actually happens it’s not pretty” is going to pussy itself. Absolutely sick 🤙🏻

    >Our age rating as it stands for console is ESRB M-rating, PEGI 18, and USK 18 to give an idea. Still, there are other game content requirements that console platforms have in order to exist on their systems, and a portion of these changes will be visible on the PC version.

    >If a content change was just a texture swap, we were able to apply it to console only while keeping the PC version the same as before. However, if the change involved transforming an entire asset (like adding clothing to a character model) this was less feasible.

That really sucks. I recall the dark and gritty theme for the game being one of the main things the devs embraced because they wanted to offer a more authentic experience of the SWAT law enforcement world.

Those dark and gritty scenes you come across for the first time in game are meant to stir emotions of repulsion, horror, disgust, etc.

I realize that at the end of the day the devs work for a company, and since those console ratings stand in the way of them making more money, they’re going to cave on a few things.

It sucks, but I sincerely hope this game doesn’t go the route of Rainbow Six Siege and straight up sterilizes the game simply chasing money. I love the game, but it feels like it’s meant for more of a niche community rather than an audience as broad as possible.

  17. Maximum-Hood426

You are joking right. So consoles are not getting the proper version?

  18. RedditButAnonymous

We accept school shootings and CP rings, but titties? Thats too far, think of the children!

  19. Possible-Emu-2913

So they’re telling us to not buy it? Okay.

  20. RevSomethingOrOther

Can’t wait not to support this one.

    Fuck censorship.

  21. Cooper_Raccoon

So we got themes of child trafficking, pedophilia and human slavery, but NAKED BOOB??? No… that’s too much…

  22. We_Are_Groot___

If you’re on console and want a nice fuzzy feel good game where the magical SWAT team have a nice time clearing the bubblegum kingdom, just play rainbow 6 siege and leave this game to PC

  23. FearlessVegetable30

ew? is that a boob? in my game about shooting ? wtf

  24. uknssoul666

Welp I was waiting for the console version but I think I’ll just buy it on Steam today.. 50% off 🙂

  25. Menvimacal

    Aaaand I am skipping it.
I dont support games that are pro censorship.

  26. dopepope1999

Kind of lame, the gore was half the reason to use the shotguns

  27. Blacknite45

As a console player I’d like to apologize for the Censorship. I would’ve assumed since the game isn’t rated for adults only things would’ve been fine unchanged

  28. BigGhost2815

From what I’ve seen of the game, there was no nudity.

  29. MoeSzyslakMonobrow

Never heard of it. Will continue to not hear about it.

  30. Death_Metalhead101

Always found it odd in the US an AO rating means most places can’t sell the game for some reason while in the UK we have no issues selling 18+ rated games

  31. ModsHaveFeelingsToo

Console kids ruining gameplay for PC games, Switch kids ruining prices across the industry. Maybe just audit what your spoiled brat children are playing better?
