Oh yeah it was great. Self contained, you could beat it in an afternoon and the art direction is just lovely. Very high quality little gem.

It’s very cute. It’s like a little sidescrolling fairytale RPG. I enjoyed the vibes.
Combat was pretty fun too, though I do remember some of the endgame enemies were pretty difficult.

  3. It’s an absolute blast to play. I really enjoyed it. There was a crossover with bloodstained, which was really cool as well. I was really hoping for a sequel

I loooove this game. Unfortunately last time I tried to launch it, it just wouldn’t. I wish we had more games like this.

I love the soundtrack by Coeur de Pirate. But I’ve never actually gotten this game to run! Just fails to start.

I was enjoying it on my ps3 back in the day, and after an update I couldn’t load my save game. So I couldn’t play it anymore. Tried again last month or so when I had my ps3 out to play oblivion before the shadow drop happened. Still an issue. Tried uninstall, reinstall, etc. No dice. Dunno what happened.

I forget if a new game worked or not now, didn’t try that recently. But I remember it being a solid rpg with a bit of a twist back then.

Damn, played that on release and loved it, wasn’t my usual cup of tea when it comes to games back then but was such a beautiful experience

  8. First game i ever played together with my now-wife. Great intro to gaming, as she “only” had to support with the little wisp (iirc).

For anyone who liked the combat, look at the Grandia series where it originated back on the Dreamcast. IMO the first game is easily the best, 2 was fine but just seemed to lose a lot of the charm of the first one, and 3 was kind of a WTF release where it felt like they had to cut out huge chunks of the game for one reason or another.

I loved that they managed to find a way around Square’s patent on the active battle system, combat reminded me of the old games I loved so much on SNES

  11. I did neither play it nor watched someone play it but the theme of the game ist in a 1h mix of beautiful video game music and it was so good that I felt the urge to watch the entire game-cutscenes and also downloaded the cutscene video to watch it again and again. Super sweet game!

Such a gem of a game, and the soundtrack is straight fire. Like, it really didn’t need to be this good, but I repeatedly listen to the OST while working 😅

Oddly enough, the combat mechanics were also quite innovative too, it’s a shame it’s not as big/well-known as it deserves

I absolutely loved Child of Light. I loved Grandia 2 as a kid and the combat reminded me very much of it, plus the art style and music were phenomenal.

I was hoping we’d get another one, but that’s clearly not gonna happen at this point lol

Agree – wasn’t expecting much at first but yea such a masterpiece of a game. Highly recommended

Dude that’s all I played as a kid and I still play it sometimes.
